I heard this work as a soundtrack to one of the performances on BBC Young Dancer this year and felt compelled to look it up as it's absolutely ethereal and really quite haunting.
"A beautiful traditional Japanese folksong, Edo Lullaby, originating from Edo, the old name for modern day Tokyo, arranged for unaccompanied mixed voices by Paul Smith. As recorded by VOCES8."

An excellent Elgar cello concerto, played by Anastasia Kobekina in the jaw dropping extravagance of the Athenaeum concert hall in Romania

This is a quite superlative Pavane from Seong-Jin Cho from a recent recital. So sensitive and impressionistic. He really does have a special affinity with the French composers.

Ave Verum Corpus by William Byrd - one of the immortal works of English church music; I never tired of singing this.

More VOCES8 - they really are consistently outstanding and what great repertoire they choose, sung in acoustically superb and atmospheric settings. This time they are singing a rarely sing Swedish hymn - maybe speedysteve can tell us how they get on with the pronunciation!

Today would have been Ligeti's 99th birthday. Another chance to see this (not that an excuse is needed).

I've picked up a couple of VOCES8 albums this year, they were recommended to me by Fretless at HFS if memory serves. They've also been working with Eric Whitacre, which I need to investigate more fully.

Soyoung Yoon is very good.
A wonderful VC with his D-S-C-H motif appearing.
