If you didn't see the BBC Young Musician final, then I highly recommend you watch the winning performance from Fang Zhang.
He plays what I found to be a quite thrilling work, a marimba concerto called Prism Rhapsody, with quite astonishing dexterity and musicality. A most worthy winner indeed.

That is a stunning piece and his playing is superb. When he took up six sticks it just blew my mind. The finale is an incredible show of talent.

If you would like to sample that piece on your system I found this recording by Evelyn Glennie - not quite as exciting as the above but good to hear.

Wow!
Check out the staging for this open-air Flying Dutchman. Superb innovation, the orchestra sounds great too.

I've found this documentary about Martha Argerich made by her daughter, Stephanie.
Am sure it will be interesting.

Wow! Check out the staging for this open-air Flying Dutchman. Superb innovation, the orchestra sounds great too. Sadly, the video seems to have gone walkabout, Jules, bur really? Der fliegende Holländer? Opera, and not only opera, but Wagnerian opera? You'll be giving our more delicate members the vapours.

That's a shame its gone - had the most amazing open air setting in a dockyard with scaffolding set!
Just for the music, you'll understand ...

You are quite correct, this isn't classical music as such but features the Phiharmonia.
A gorgeous exercise in nostalgia - a wonderful voice and suitably lush orchestral backing.
Some talent and damn, she plays the cello too - apparently she once played with the Iceland Symphony.

A superlative performance of 'Gavotte en Rondeau' by the wonderful Katha Zinn. I don't think I've heard better.
Sound quality is immense too!

If anyone can play YT through their main system, I'd be interested in your thoughts on the sound quality of this intriguing piano.

Martha Argerich and her grandson, David Chen, play Ravel.
