Nice looking unit, if a little pricy.

Excellent news.
I'm now going to have to work out how to watch it all without subscribing to (spit) Apple. I'm gonna have to sell my soul, aren't I?

I didn't notice the other one. Is it a dual output PSU, with two different voltages?
Can't be sure without a circuit diagram. What is the model number of this unit?

That's a different power supply. However, it, too, has a grey preset trimmer at the rear-right of the PCB.

It's an R2R DAC.

julesd68, Spotify sounds decent until you directly compare it with Qobuz, and then you can hear all that the compression loses in real detail, soundstage, dynamics and all the other attributes of hi-res. Once you attune to it, there is really no going back. You can always do a trial and see what you think?

Is it this one? If so, there is a grey preset adjuster to the right of the reservoir capacitors. No idea what the adjustment range is, but it might just go below 10V. Worth opening it up and getting a DVM on it, for sure.

I learned that I have some (not much) talent for Stained Glass and was able to make the sky light over our front door with a stylistic match to the 1920 design in the door itself . Was also able to do Sun Catcher things which I give to friends and family . Sadly have no place to do this at home and the place I was using has closed so looking for a cheap place I can use once a week . Some years ago I took lessons at Bracknell College in glass casting. I cast my young son's fist in glass and he still has it - his fist is now considerably larger. Perhaps an art school or college local to you has the necessary tools for glass and would let you join a class or come in and use their facilities?

Mine is still getting better, Mike. The presentation is unfolding in ways that are difficult to describe, but I'm hardly paying attention as the music is so involving.

It seems much the same in the classical world, many orchestral members receiving little over minimum wage. However, I suppose you could say it's a touch more reliable income - if you actually make it into an orchestra at all.

Sorry to ask after all the time I have been here but why use Bubble player ? Is that the recommended controller for Rendu items ? I used the software on a phone many years ago but did not find it to be any advantage either sound quality wise or function over Logitech Media Server using Material Skin GUI. I tried LMS a while ago and found it not nearly as good for control or sound quality as Bubble, which is a very good DLNA controller. For me, Bubble is perfect for the Rendu.

Recorded quality is indeed variable, but what I'm finding (don't know if you agree) is that everything, even quite dodgy sounding albums (e.g. ELP - Brain Salad Surgery) are more rewarding to listen to.

I'm enjoying the fuss-free competence of the way the system plays all manner of music.
I was listening to Mazzy Star earlier and at several moments perking up and admiring the cymbal work going on in the background. I love these moments. When cymbals sound that good and it's not even hi-res, just 16/44, you know the system is working well.

Good purchase, they should do well if they can be fixed.

What's the Greek for "Here, Watson"?
Congratulations on the new acquisition and I hope he becomes a music appreciator.

I feel sure your DAC mute relay clicking is a gapless playback setting somewhere in Bubble, although I would have thought you'd already set that some time ago.

V8 hehe, have to be a DFV then? Part of it rather than in it. I've had a V8 before, in my BMW 540i. That was a 4.4l developing "only" 286bhp, in other words barely working hard (but enough to sustain 150mph for an hour chasing a Porsche down the Autoroute). I'm thinking of something more potent, possibly flat plane crank like some of the best Japanese V8s. What I'd like is a Lexus LFA but I don't happen to have a spare million lying around. And it's a V10.

I couldn't have imagined what has come so far, Mike. More rich, dark, fully rounded, with immense soundstage, stonking bass and impact like never before? No, I didn't imagine that!
