Due to other changes I have a spare LHY Audio 12 v LPSU . On the Leo Bodnar Clock thread it was mentioned that in some cases it was possible to reduce the voltage of these china made power supplies to the best voltage of 9.5 V .
I have some skills in soldering but not the technical knowledge to do this could someone have a look at a photo of the inside of the unit and let me know if and how to make any changes ?

Post a photo of the inside.... That will give us idea.
BTW 8.25V Is the best voltage... It's been tested by many.

truthfully looked at the construction of the unit and it is just too much work to get it stripped so i can then take pictures . Thanks for looking and responding but I think this is one of those things that is just a little bit too much for me . If I come across another easier to open 12V unit will give it a try .

Is it this one? If so, there is a grey preset adjuster to the right of the reservoir capacitors. No idea what the adjustment range is, but it might just go below 10V. Worth opening it up and getting a DVM on it, for sure.

Yes highly likely MartinT, if if anything like our Zero Zone 01 units, but you never know. I can suggest a superb and cheaper PSU alternative for the LB, that's only bettered by my Farad Super 3, so when used with LB it's superior to ifi Elite, Power X and the Zero Zone 01... Quite incredible really, given its price, but let's face it, even the LB itself is a oddity on the Hi Fi world. The bonus about this unit,if you purchase the 12volt unit, you can turn the voltage down as low 3v if desired, so 8.25v is easy to achieve via the small screw, and as MartinT advised, just use a DVM,or as l would call it a Multimeter. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/145022883145?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=MFakcJXUQJu&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=BciNUykhRZm&var=444228124729&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Hopefully this will be a picture of the inside of the LYS power supply .

That's a different power supply. However, it, too, has a grey preset trimmer at the rear-right of the PCB.

So I need to power it up put a voltmeter on the outputs then wind the tiny screw to reduce the out put ideally to 8.25 v but as close as it will let me . Seems to be possible . I did note the there were two little grey square components with an adjustment screw but the one I need is the one right next to the largest capacitors ?

I didn't notice the other one. Is it a dual output PSU, with two different voltages?
Can't be sure without a circuit diagram. What is the model number of this unit?

Voltage adjustment is possible?
I'm in need of a 19v LPS. Have a Teddy Pardo MiniTeddy 18v, and a Coherent LPS from Tony at 15v that I used on my SEG.
15v to 19v?

That really depends on the design Brett. Many designs will only let adjust roughly two volts plus or minus. Truth is you need to test. My Farad Super 3 is fixed, you have to send it back to the factory for a component swap out.

Just to add to this I bought a used 12v 5a which arrived yesterday to power the Virgin Media HUB 5 and presuming that as the HUB needs 12v 3a this would prove retort enough to deal with the turn on current rush . Well did the switch off of all the network items including my music server . Then just powered up the HUB this takes its own sweet time to reboot and settle around eight to ten minutes no idea why . Finally once it was running and stable switch on my network switches and finally my LIV Zen . Yay everything worked and powered up my system and started it working and double yay music came on . Now the LPSU is used and I am told has not been used in a while so there will need to be a burn in period . Good thing was that from cold it confirmed what I found when my journey in to replacing SMPS units with LPSU that even one n the chain adds noise that you are not really aware of until you take it out . Music is now more relaxed less on edge and singers and players seem to have more time and space to play in . Soundstage is now really solid no drifting just placement in one location which increases the illusion of reality . I can now tell that the HUB for this function at least with a decent power supply is equal to my old Archer VR2800 but not as good as a wireless router , still nothing in systems are wireless except the tablets for control . Happy at getting back to where I was before the ISP change .

That's the kind of satisfying upgrade that is very pleasing. Well done!
