Closest I can guess is France? You're bang on. To help others who know me help you to guess, its the view I would have from my patio if I am able to buy the house we are looking at. Which, of course, has probably jinxed it!

Nice, looks like you'll be an easy cannon shot away.. The bigger worry is a siege and burning for heresy - its one of the Cathar castles - the Chateau de Puillarens. And we would have that uninterupted view of it. We have been dithering a bit, and if it sells there are now perhaps a dozen others that interest me, but whatever its limitations inside that view is bloody tempting. I'm getting no work done, since making it my desktop wallpaper

Our nearest is a couple of kilometres away. Fortified chatux rather than castle really. For some reason we have never photographed it. However, you can see it top left in this pic from Tourauto last year. The pic is taken from our front door.

I get Carcassone of course. I know the 2nd one - but can't jog the memory into giving up a name

Corde sur Ciel. And this one?
There is a bit of castle in there somewhere.
Another fortified chateau near my retirement home:
And a proper castle:

Nah. but for some reason our village seems to be on the route of every rally. We get huge swarms of bikes coming through constantly, the annual fest for Circuit de Remparts and the Tourauto which travels right down through France. Anyone who likes cars should visit Angouleme in September. Eyecandy galore... and loads of cars too.

Try this one. Best castle bar none . Also an interesting juxtaposition of castles their Colin . Bravo .
I presume you meant to juxtapose the women who stood up for ordinary people against buldings built for royality which no doubt caused the death of hundreds of workers as they were built .
