Valves, ducks..... maybe I need that poster, too. GIP will print onto their room treatment panels if you send them photos. I feel an order coming on. And yes, Jules, I Googled for some more and there are some other good ones.

The one in the middle is a GIK panel with a licence-free image that I found. The other two are from Acoustic Sciences.

Nice.
What are the speakers? Usher Be 20s?
This room is interesting in the sense that the sound changes along its length quite markedly.
That's why I think short wall listening in here would be a bad idea. You'd be constrained to listening too close with no flexibility.
GIK/GIP? Well K is reasonably close to P on phone keyboards I suppose:D
PM me how much they charged for those panels if you can remember please Martin. I was talking to them recently at the Bristol Hi-Fi show but never did ask for a price list.

Yes, Usher Be-20.
Let me wade back through my e-mails and see if I can find my order. I'll let you know.

I really like those Ushers for what it's worth. I think Usher speakers deserve more credit/exposure than they appear to get to be frank.

Thanks. They have served me so well during countless system upgrades. I never seem to find their limits. They are likely to be my final speakers.

Bought some insanely rare esoterica in the shape of these Loewe AD1/400 valves. God bless them during their transmit from the Fatherland to Blighty during these abnormal times.

Really glad it has opened up your choice/experience of different valves.

Had some dodgy moments when the fridge in the room turned on and I thought it was humming again!
And when using a cheap espresso maker I have used for years which I was flushing out. Down the other end of the room it sounded like hum again.
But no.
BTW fridges in listening rooms are a no no don't go! It shall remain off.
Does seem very excellent Alan you should be proud of yourself. Will PM you in the next day or so.

Well the post from Germany is fast as these showed up very quickly indeed. Nice to see some copper in there. Will try them out tomorrow. I also had some 100% Tesla RD27AS through. I spent last night listening to them. They sound phenomenal. Seriously, seriously good.

It turns out that RD27AS actually doesn't beat my Tesla AD1(n) when directly comparing the two.
Anyway I bought a Chiq A5U 4K laser projector and a 100 inch ALR screen. I know that's a bit AV but if anyone declares an interest I will post more about it.

We're always interested in AV setups, too.

Just posted the YouTube reviewer for the calibration settings. It definitely needs a calibration colour accuracy is somewhat strange by default.
Been using it against a white wall which is hopeless during the day. At night it's a different story. But the ALR screen has pushed the game forward for ultra short throws and makes day time viewing very workable. Should have it up and running in the studio within a day or two with the ALR.
At the moment I have it 14 cm from the wall and have an approx 100 inch image. That's incredible I think.
Bigger is better. The best way I can think to describe its presentation is much like that of going to the cinema. Digital projectors just present things differently to an OLED.
Feed it 4K and it looks very good even from close up, colour accuracy withstanding at the moment. The ALR should make the whole image look even better.

Digital projectors just present things differently to an OLED. Agreed, but I love what my LG OLED TV does with pictures, the colour is very natural while also being vibrant, if that isn't a contradiction.

Yeah OLEDs are good. But my 55 inch LG is looking painfully small though by comparison and being honest about it it is a bit rubbish during the day. The screen reflects light like the vast majority of TVs making it hard to see and the brightness capability is sub par.
I am thinking with the ALR the daylight performance is probably going to be better than the LG.
Need to get this screen up and running to see what this Chiq can really do. Projecting onto a non flat white wall is a real issue for short throws. The surface needs to be mega flat or it won't focus properly and indeed it is impossible to get it right.
BTW the salesman told me it would take 20 minutes to set up the screen. Try 4.5 hours, which is what it really took. And some lateral thought from me. The manual was incorrect, which meant to avoid deconstructing it entirely after having made it, I had to bend aluminium etc.
The problem was with the centre strut fixings. But I am convinced I have excellent tension on the membrane now.
More soonish.

Now to remove that light now I have put the edge trim on.

Well it's on the wall. But have I got the positioning maths right? I may hang myself if not. Will try it in a couple of hours with the projector. That really did take some time. I understand why people pay for pro installs now. Holes to fill paint to patch up. Small beer.
