Well it's on the wall. But have I got the positioning maths right? I may hang myself if not. Will try it in a couple of hours with the projector. That really did take some time. I understand why people pay for pro installs now. Holes to fill paint to patch up. Small beer. Hmm, just an inch and a bit to the right, I think.

It slides horizontally. But I took the photo slightly off centre.
The screen is amazing compared to a white wall. The colour accuracy and daylight performance improvement is amazing.
When you see it Jerry you will know. China is ahead. The Western world gave them too much tech in return for building shite for nothing. Now they have learnt so much they are improving on our tech AND making it.
Talking about stupid. What a bunch of suckers we are. We're even consuming their virus!

I have one of each China's product. LKS from mainland China and Ushers from Taiwan.

Tech these days is going beyond intuitive common sense and entering the realm of science fiction. I can break it just as easily

So I rigged up the hi-fi yesterday nice and low - well below ear height.
I had a big smile on my face. That screen behind the Apogees has a really beneficial effect on sound quality. Less less echo in the room than previously.
Because there's no kit between the speakers at ear height and what appears to be reduced rear wave reflection from the front wall the soundstage is more enhanced than I expected.
Note you do need some rear wave reflection to get the best out of dipoles and this appears to be a very balanced result.
Nice.
Next addition will be a large area floor rug.

It's really satisfying getting a room to work well.
Do you feel the need for corner units, especially behind the Apogees?

If you look at the left Apogee in my last photo you can just see the top of a corner trap, but there are two. They are staying.
Watching Inside Man from 2006 and the projector image quality is great, even if you are used to an OLED. It's certainly better than watching a 55 inch OLED overall by quite a margin we think. Projectors have finally arrived. The film was shot with some seriously good kit I reckon.
The caveat with the projector is some audible fan noise. They all do it. You only hear it when the soundtrack goes quiet or silent. But it is there.

Yup. Haven't in used this in maybe 5 years. Basically cos I didn't have the space in my last room. This set up is temporary. I plan to have a very wide low shelf running between and behind the speakers for all the gear eventually. Anyway, Gregory Isaacs is coming over very well indeed. Have never heard vinyl through the Luxmans before. It's good.

Very nice setup and room with lots of potential.
Is the sound better with the curtains on the right drawn?

Very nice setup and room with lots of potential. Is the sound better with the curtains on the right drawn? Not much in the way of noticeable difference. The Apogees just tend to fire straight up the room. Sure there is some side dispersion but not like a Martin Logan, say, with the curved panels that fire all over the place. I know - I owned MLs for many years. Long way to go in that room. I was due a visit from a Bo Concept interior designer but C19 stopped that. It's a bit bland in there for my tastes. And I am not sure I like the flooring. The main house is much higher spec so when you move between the two you kind of notice it! Those Velux windows are brilliant, though. And they have blinds so light control for the projector is excellent. All nicely done from a remote.

Noticed the date stamp on these relatively recently. Both made in the same day, over 80 years ago. Whilst well used, I have had them in my monos for years, they measure the strongest of my 211 collection of about 25 in all. They're considerably stronger than brand new Shuguang 211s. Nice.

Made a few months before:
The Blitz begins as Germany bombs London. On September 7, 1940, 300 German bombers raid London, in the first of 57 consecutive nights of bombing. This bombing “blitzkrieg” (lightning war) would continue until May 1941.

I have one of those minds that is cluttered with useless bits of arcane trivia and with no discernible knowledge how they arrived there. As such, I happen to know that Amperex had a factory in a place called Hicksville, USA.

I actually bought them off eBay years ago from the US.
I don't believe there's anyway to determine where these were actually made but who knows maybe I haven't looked into it hard enough. There maybe a marking inside the valves.
I have some Cunningham CX-345 triodes that are 1920s, so these aren't the oldest I own.
FWIW these Amperex valves are the best sounding 211s I have come across. They easily beat modern day KR211s, NOS RCA and GE.

Due to wife insistence my Mark & Daniel Sapphire loudspeakers had to go where you see them after a recent house move. I have never heard small speakers sound decent on a floor. Amazingly they sound pretty good here. Why? The floor is very rigid and solid. The dispersion from the AMT driver is remarkably consistent from side to side but also up. I have always been impressed with those AMTs. Not only me they have been liked at bake offs too. Anyway, each speaker has two rear ports and the drive units are mounted in some polymer a bit like Corian that weighs a tonne. When the drivers get going they push serious air through those ports. Enough to make plants dance at some distance. Here it sounds like that alcove gives them a good few DB of extra bass extension which is not unwelcome. Rare in this country Chapter Audio used to distribute them. If you ever see them 2nd hand, any model really, have a good think. They are dead good but the caveat is they need power and a lot of it. The speaker stands I used to use with them are in the classifieds. Atacama Volcanic Glass Stands

But if the ears say they do, they do !

They certainly do, I've heard them at Justin's previous abode.
Quite possibly the most power hungry speakers I have ever come across! But feed them properly and they do impress.
