Size of Cone and material Size and quality of magnet (more maxwells and flux density) Size (dia.) and quality of voice coil and preferably edgewound and underhung High efficiency Higher impedance (15 Ohm +) Good list. Add to that the Q (damping factor) of the speaker driver.

The old addage may apply here 'There aint no substitute for cubes' from our American cousins. The new JBL's Martin mentioned a few posts back I listened to at a reviewers a couple of months back, very capable speakers. Huge SPL, great presence, lots of bounce and drive, slam plenty for John to One of the best civilized domestic PA speakers I have ever heard, (PMC should make notes). If your in the market for big bangers that are well behaved then these are worth a serious audition. Though do bear in mind you will need a somewhat larger room that your average 25 by 20 UK effort

Don't look as impressive though.

Hi Andy
I would agree with thoughts on the array's, however both speakers offer enormous fun factor and will give many hours of great listening pleasure.
Though for me personally the are too coloured and lack real insight for me, but then I'm fussy lol!
That said a very fine speaker without question.

I used to have a pair of JBL L-100Ts. They were very, very good for the money and sure gave a glimpse of that fun factor of their bigger cousins. Nice 12" bass driver gave great wallop.

Good as the JBL's are I much prefer to listen to my BTH or Westrex speakers which despite being 61 and 53 years old respectively still IMHO sound better than any commercially available speakers I've listened to

Size does NOT matter one iota.......Ask Shona !!!
Why is DQ suffering Bias Moderation like Mr Dunn previously.
MODERATION: the rest removed. DQ is being moderated as fairly as anyone else here. In fact, if you read closely you will see that he has hardly been moderated at all - only when he has broken the rules.

Indeed. Such a pleasant character. Yep, and he probably doesn't have the balls to insult you face to face

Sorry guys but its one thing to complain about the children in the playground and quite another to descend to their level. I don't think you should carry on with this conversation.

Actually jammy retaliated to wobble. He was of course merely wondering why it was fine to call me a cock :Dand for Gordon to continually moan whilst perpetrating the very same thing he moans about. Gordon is clearly prevalent in news speak.

You can speak for yourself, DQ. I've let jammy's other comment ride and hopefully we can now move on?
