By the way, these are my all-time favourite speakers for bass, using two of the aforementioned 15" JBL drivers each. Fast doesn't even start to describe them.
No idea what they sound like but I'd really love to hear them just from the looks And they are only partially black ! If you buy a pair, I'll re-veneer them in Ebony or African Blackwood for you. Should only double the price

They are JBL Everest DD66000, now replaced by the DD67000.
At the price, I should imagine you can have them in any colour you like.

interesting change to Alan's signature has just occurred I see. All I can say is that its better to be a prick who thinks he knows something than a prick who thinks he knows everything.

Moderation . Eh you moderate my post but leave title fire bottle in place. Talk about amateur . You really do need to have a word with Marco.
Basically because people have a half arsed understanding of the subject they resort to insulting me and you think its fine. Awesome.
And alan if I explained the law to my Clients like you explain your position I would be shit.im sure your designs sound good but your ability to articulate your position is awful.

Yes, but IMHO more to it than that
Size of Cone and material Size and quality of magnet (more maxwells and flux density) Size (dia.) and quality of voice coil and preferably edgewound and underhung High efficiency Higher impedance (15 Ohm +)
One exception where less is more is cone excursion.

This link gives a good honest appraisal of the Everests which were £44k last time I looked, certainly gone up a bit! link

My 18" woofers are 15 ohm, and the baffles use a series crossover.
Judging by what he writes on HFS, Daniels ambition in life is to be as disruptive as possible on this forum, and the mods let him.

I've got to say I am sceptical of multi drivers doing the same thing. Better a proper mid and large bass driver or even a simple quality two way in most cases. I auditioned the Mission 753 against the 752 and much prefered the later. One quality and innovative 'Aerogel' driver v a line of lower quality bass/mid drivers stacked above one another. Checked the specs a while back and the 752 is supposed to have slightly more bass extension. Anyway it is far better in the mid range. If you want real bass get a big box with a big bass driver. Also remember while big is better there are limits due to room size.

I'm sorry you feel that way, Philip, but we moderate strictly to our forum rules. We want to encourage freedom of speech and to interfere as little as possible with the flow of discussion. Sure, we 're going to disagree sometimes but we don't want to be heavy-handed unless we are forced to.
Sometimes DQ says something that makes us stop and think, and I consider that to be valuable input. I only object when there is direct attack on a member or the danger that we are being swung towards entirely subjective or entirely objective viewpoints. At TAS, a happy balance between the two is what we aim for.

I had a similar experience: I auditioned both the Usher Be-10 and Be-20 before deciding on the latter. Its twin bass drivers won me over with their scale, ease and slam. I knew I'd be putting them into a small-ish room to start with, but I bought them with the view that they may be my last ever speakers*, and I didn't want to hold back within my budget.
* if I ever have the means to buy a pair of JBL Everests, they're mine!

At TAS, a happy balance between the two is what we aim for. I have seen no empirical evidence of that whatsoever However, my engineering collegues do find DQ and his friend provide a valuable source of daily amusement so yes freedom of speach should be encouraged
