For a long time I'd found Amazon to be quite reliable, but lately they seem to have decided that they are the new Hermes. At least the driver didn't turn off his tracking today, which was how I found out that my parcel had not only arrived, but had been " Parcel was handed to resident". Yeah, right. As I was still sitting at my desk watching the " You are next" icon on their map switch to " delivered" that was most definitely not the case. It was, in fact, sitting outside my building, in the rain. He didn't bother using the entryphone, just dropped my new USB drive and buggered off. Had I not (out of habit) checked my " Your Orders" page I wouldn't even have known it was due for delivery today, instead of Wednesday, and if I hadn't been tracking my parcel I wouldn't have known it was sitting outside being drizzled on. And this is before their Christmas temp support staff are in play.

Amazon often use third party couriers. It could have been delivered by 'Herpes'.

Amazon often use third party couriers. It could have been delivered by 'Herpes'. They usually mark those on the tracking page, and this one definitely said " Delivery by Amazon" with an Amazon Tracking ID, plus it went through the Amazon chain and was dispatched from the usual Amazon depot.

ParcelFarce again. Received a message that my parcel had been delivered. No parcel. Checked the tracking and there is the euphemistically named "Proof of delivery" showing my parcel outside someone else's door. Again. Grrr.
So now Sharon is supposed to be calling the driver to go get it and deliver it to me. That's already one step better than Evri who even refused to do that on another occasion.

Perhaps Parcelfarce delivery staff have a little more latitude than Evri drivers. If Evri had to go back to collect something it would wreck the driver's whole schedule, which, let's face it, is a lot more important than your delivery. Having said that, I'll take a wild swing and guess that rather than get the driver to turn around, Parcelfarce will make their driver pick it up on his way back to the depot, and you won't be seeing it anytime today. Still, he'll probably turn up on YOUR doorstep asking where the parcel is that he has to redeliver.

Thanks to a kind neighbour, I now have my parcel.
No thanks to ParcelFarce whom I rang again this morning. Extended querying revealed they had done nothing. "The driver has collected your parcel and will redeliver it later", which, when further questioned, became "the driver has been requested to collect the parcel...". In other words, nothing had been done.
Very nearly as useless as Evri.

Aaaahhh isn't this lovely - I've just had a personal message from Parcelforce Dear Julian, We know life can feel like a never-ending to-do list sometimes, and sending parcels might not always be at the top. But don't worry, we'll get those parcels where they need to be.

Wondered if my shaver needed a new cutter foil as seemed a bit off
Looked up Amazon, which goes back to the year dot
Ah. Nearly 2 years old, that explains it
Checked Amazon Free delivery with madam's Prime which I have official access to
Today I don't need it today
But today it (just) arrived
Free delivery, same day - madness

Evri again. Complete toerags.
They were due to deliver last Friday but I was away so I get a message saying they will deliver on Monday within a 2 hr window in the evening. Nothing happens. Then I get this message -
"Don't worry, we will send you a message on Thursday 7 November 2024 regarding your delivery."
Lol!! That's service for you.

Dear Jules
We have a helpline number where we'll mess you around and waste your time. We'll give you crocodile tears and sympathise with the loss of your parcel. We'll then make a number of promises of things we'll undertake to do to find your parcel behind the scenes. You will get the impression we are on action stations for you. In reality, we'll immediately lose your reference number and will proceed to do f*ck all about sorting out the issue.
Yours
Herpes Evri

Lol thanks chaps! I got another random email from Evri telling me my parcel would now be delivered between 19.00 - 21.00 tonight. So what happens - the courier turned up around 3pm today and luckily I was in. I honestly don't know how they keep going with this completely clueless approach.

When I ordered my latest guitar I ordered a couple of sets of strings for it too. They're being sent via eVri. eVri describe my parcel as a "2 Day Delivery".
01:45 - Tue Nov 05 We're expecting your parcel to arrive with us soon and we'll update your tracking once we've received it
03:45 - Tue Nov 05 Parcel accepted by Evri gateway
06:45 - Tue Nov 05 We've collected your parcel . . . . . .
That's it. It's now Saturday evening.
