Mike: I decided to stick with Laptop time being.. Im looking at buying a Naim 'Uniti atom' I really wouldn't recommend this option, Andr'e, I have a Naim NDX which cost a small fortune, and it just really isn't very good considering the outlay. I think their streamers, like most of their equipment is overpriced for what you get.

Have an SD card. Do I need a separate SD card reader ? I think you'd need that for downloading the software onto it from your laptop, Mike, but I am sure that Martin or Chris can confirm.

Get the stuff on order and we'll set a date!
Check: do you have Wi-Fi in the listening room?

I'd be very interested in your thoughts, Mike, as Chris and Martin keep saying how good the Pi is.
When I have time I might just have to get myself one to play around with.

Ok, I'll bring my tablet with a download of Volumio, Win32DiskImager and a card reader. I can also bring a USB drive for you to try some file-based trials.
You supply the Pi 3, SD card, case, power supply, USB cable, laptop. You'll also need a Spotify account, preferably Premium or Family if you want to get full sound quality.
If I remember, I can bring my battery for you to compare with, too.

Thanks.
Coming from Hong Kong so assume at least a couple of weeks.
Be good to hear what the battery does. Can we compare to the Ankaka ?

Spotify account has to be the full fat version - Volumio won't play it with the free one

I did look at the Sony 'HAP-S1' but was unsure about the build quality!

I really do, save yourself some money and by an alternative brand, with Naim you're probably paying a massive percentage for the Name.

I thought about this Raspberry a lot at one time & even bought one but never did anything with it. I got to thinking what im i doing when i have a laptop & Streamer/DAC. So never bothered, sold it on, i needed to be advancing not going around in circles. I guess what i envisage is not really been brought out as yet. Although i get the idea from Star Trek Next Generation in the late 80's.
