Thanks. There may also be a way to connect laptop to Firestick. Laptop sees it which is a good start.

Raspberry Pi with wi-fi dongle and any USB DAC (many StanDACs have one). Controlled via the laptop over wi-fi. Gives you file-based, Spotify, YouTube audio and internet radio. Perfect and meets André's requirement for dead cheap! Which gives a better sound quality than a Google device or Firestick ?

Never compared them, but the Pi is fantastic and for the price a no-brainer.

Before I do that....
The Isis has a USB input. Manual even shows a pc connected. Shows that small plug, usually seen on the printer end of a USB. That will still be ok won't it ?

In that case, yes, all you need is a cable.

Before making any further investment, Mike, give it a try. All you need is a longish USB cable.

I use an external USB sound card with a toslink cable to my DAC. Not the last word in quality but a decent affordable solution.

Success !
Laptop connected via a USB printer cable to the Isis. Another reason to buy an Isis !
How can I go wireless and what might it do to the sound quality ?
Four Tet sounding good

Raspberry Pi feeding the Isis?
For the cost of a Pi and free software (Volumio, Spotify Connect, YouTube plug-in) you've got yourself a Wi-Fi streamer, internet radio and file-based player.
A Pi3 even has Wi-Fi built in.

Raspberry Pi! It keeps coming up, doesn't it?!
Connect the Pi with a usb cable to the Isis and control it from your laptop....or tablet.....or phone. Job done- Spotify and YouTube at your finger tips. Plus hundreds of internet radio stations. Plus the ability to play anything someone might hand to you on a memory stick. Or seperate hard drive. Or anything else you can connect to wirelessly or with usb or network cable.
It makes massive sense. As you won't need an extra piggy back board, with a cheap case, it will cost you under 40 quid.

Yep, Pi 3 model B with a plastic (not metal) case. Any decent short USB2.0 cable should do. You'll need a power supply for the Pi, start with the standard one and worry about batteries later if you like what you hear. If you have Wi-Fi in your listening room, all you need is the laptop, SD storage card, card reader and the software in our main RPI thread to download and blast the Volumio code into the card. This is what you need, everything to get you started.

Thanks. Hoping even someone as challenged as me can put that together. Fingers crossed I won't be adding to their negative feedback !

You can do it Mike. It took me 30 minutes the first time I did it, including the time spent downloading the software. That was the time between opening the box and geting music through the speakers.
