Not really tbh, unless you drag them across pavement. I always lift them and carry them. Though I have one time seen a bag rip that sat for weeks and the bottom of the bag became wet. So when lifting it the bottom just gave out. But aside from that somehow these have been sturdy little son of a guns. images.app.goo.gl/Pt6mnps8FgSkVJTy6 [/img] Sorry for this sorry attempt at posting a picture I've copied the image link and inserted it between and [/img]

You're welcome, hmmm, absolutely not in use there? I only ask because I've seen them used for nearly a decade here in the states. Apparently they are called 30 Gallon paper lawn and leaf bags. Surprisingly sturdy.

I think plastic (!) black bin liners have taken over that spot

I see now, like super-large paper carrier bags. I believe so. Martin, I submit that wheelbarrowfulls of leaves would be an endless shuffling back and forth because in the wheelbarrow, as far as I know, there's no chance to compress a pile. Seems to me that stuffing leaves into a bag or dragging on a tarp is more effective. In the bag you shove it down and can fit an entire large pile into 2 or 3 bags. On a tarp or blanket an entire pile can be scooped on and dragged behind you. After the leaf blowing is done those 2 or 3 massive piles can be out of your hair in minutes with a tarp. Any takers on this one?

All the big and multi-layered piles of leaves - cleared !
Now onto edges and 10-20% coverage
Much sooner than April finish last year due to more time spent and working better
Tried a tarp. Ok but I prefer the big bags as I can pack them down

Big bag is good except holding it open when it's empty. Requires three hands.

Always an interesting task I put in on the wheelbarrow and pull it outwards, which it resists Every 1,2 or 3 stacks of leaves I put in I adjust the bag again. When fuller I push it in and crush them down, then undo it again This year was different as most of the time the leaves were dry Wet leaves are heavy !

We're not quite there yet, but did blow the patio areas front and back two weekends ago to keep it tidy.

I might get a leaf blower. Getting more upper body strength with raking and useful to do while giving the dogs time to find the perfect spot to do

You need a blower if you have any substantial patio, drives or paths. Much better than a rake.

I do all the raking at my parents place. Last year they bought a leaf blower. I almost never use it. I do enjoy the work out.
Though the blower comes in handy when needing to sweep grass trimmings off of the street after mowing the lawn. Sweeping doesn't seem to do as good a job.

Fair enough. It can be just time consuming menial work. For me it's my only time interacting with a yard/property so I actually take my time.
But my mother goes out there for the whole day in the extreme heat sometimes. Not good. I only do it in the evening.
