UFO on Blu-Ray is available for pre-order via Amazon and is pencilled in for 14th November release. I'll wait for the price to come down a bit before I bite There are also rumours that Minder is being worked on for a Blu-Ray release next year... can't wait for that!!!

I ran a Croft Micro 25 Basic pre with a pair of NVA A40 MK2 monoblocks and they worked very well indeed... you just need to be careful which cable you use, especially if you use anything which is twisted together...

I've been buying plenty of heavy weight repressed vinyl recently and touch wood, I've only had issues with one and the eBay seller I used was more than happy to exchange it. Perhaps the fact that he was a dealer and the 2 LP set was supplied sealed made him more approachable and cooperative. Like many here, all my new LP's are cleaned with a RCM and inserted in anti-static record sleeves before I consider spinning them...

I don't get the whole vinyl thing at all, the kit looks good but never had a TT in my system. Someone would have to lend me one so I could see what all the fuss is about. Are you sure you old men aren't just over romantics? You have to give it a go James and have some patience with the format. I've never been a huge fan (this is my third attempt to embrace the format) but this time I've invested in a sub £500 record cleaner, so I'm beginning to realise what the fuss is all about. Playing new vinyl, freshly cleaned, has given me as big a wow moment as I've ever experienced with my love of music. Sure, second-hand vinyl is a bit more of a challenge, as is working out how some dealers/sellers grade it, but if you manage to persevere, the rewards are well worth the effort... and that's from a long time vinyl non-believer

With my vinyl interest well and truly ignited, a couple of recent London/SE pointers from me: 101Records Centrale Croydon, Centrale Shopping Centre, N End, Croydon CR0 1TY Croydon used to have the world famous Beano's, but that has long gone and all we have now is 101 Records. Tucked behind the Centrale shopping centre it has loads of vinyl and everything I've bought there thus far has been graded fairly and competitively priced. Music & Video Exchange 38 Notting Hill Gate, London W11 3HX I took a Sunday trip up to W11 recently and found this to have an extensive selection of second-hand vinyl. Some £60+ later, I had three releases, but I did find that they were priced at the top end of what I was able to find online. Pencilled in for next week after a recommendation elsewhere online is a visit to Ben's in Guildford plus another trip into town to Flashback Records, London N1, so I'll report back on the latter I was also hoping to check out the Old Spitalfields Record Fair on Friday, but I wasn't able to attend...

Looks very nice indeed Brian... I've recently been bitten by the vinyl bug again, good and proper this time and its costing me a fortune in new/second hand records!

Don't even consider single-ended, I doubt it would do the job. I ran my AN Oto SE with a pair of Tannoy Cheviots and the combination worked superbly... just saying

Hmmm, yes, OK Back within TAS rules of engagement...... What arm(s) did you use on the Linn, Pete? You seem to have omitted that from your description. How remiss of me Chris, I do apologise most profusely for my omission This was my LP12 at the time I moved it on. Linn Akito arm and Denon DL110 high output MC cart. I had the deck serviced and set-up by a Linn dealer but it wasn't a patch on the same arm/Ortofon Samba low output MC cart/Rothwell MC1 SUT/Croft Micro 25 set-up.

Thanks Jules At this moment in time, the whole combination is sounding very nice indeed. I did some online research about the BA HotHead and found that it was getting very positive reviews. I was offered a second-hand example for under £300 delivered, which is excellent value. My previous vinyl experience up until I moved away from the format were: LP12, Ortofon Samba MC, Rothwell MC1 SUT & Croft Micro 25 Basic LP12, Denon DL110 MC, Graham Slee Reflex M and various preamp/mono combinations What I'm listening to now is head and shoulders above the second set-up and slightly better than the first.

Nought special for me, but having thought I'd never go near the format again, I picked up this tidy TD125 MK2/Micro Seiki MA101 combo elsewhere, added a DL103R and a Benedict Audio HotHead C and the results thus far are very nice indeed: So there is still hope for me and the format yet
