I like vinyl, ever since the 1970's, fast forward to what people are calling the vinyl resurgence which is nonsense as people like me and fellwo TAS members have kept it going by buying it for over 40 years. I have owned probably over 30 turntables in my time (not as a seller/dealer but as a hifi obsessive) and like to buy things like Garrard 401's and Techy's, get them pimped up (can't be bothered doing the work myself) playing them for a bit and then usually giving them to mates to borrow long term or selling them. So TAS members lets see your decks again old and new, if you have any in the loft please next time you can be bothered get them out and take a piccy for the forum. A few words about why you have what you have etc would also be welcomed. I cannot think of any subject I like more than vinyl. A few of my decks below....

This is the Strathclyde 305M I still have in a spare room, now without the SME III arm. It's a good deck.

Nought special for me, but having thought I'd never go near the format again, I picked up this tidy TD125 MK2/Micro Seiki MA101 combo elsewhere, added a DL103R and a Benedict Audio HotHead C and the results thus far are very nice indeed: So there is still hope for me and the format yet

That's a very nice looking combo!
How do you rate the Benedict Audio stage? I have a mate who is thinking of buying one...

Thanks Jules At this moment in time, the whole combination is sounding very nice indeed. I did some online research about the BA HotHead and found that it was getting very positive reviews. I was offered a second-hand example for under £300 delivered, which is excellent value. My previous vinyl experience up until I moved away from the format were: LP12, Ortofon Samba MC, Rothwell MC1 SUT & Croft Micro 25 Basic LP12, Denon DL110 MC, Graham Slee Reflex M and various preamp/mono combinations What I'm listening to now is head and shoulders above the second set-up and slightly better than the first.

That's interesting as my friend tried one of the Slee stages via their loan scheme and didn't get on with it at all...
I'll pass on your feedback, many thanks Pete!

Hmmm, yes, OK Back within TAS rules of engagement...... What arm(s) did you use on the Linn, Pete? You seem to have omitted that from your description. I love the Thorens, by the way. Here are my two turntables, as of just now. Michell Gyrodec / Zeta / Koetsu Black Goldring G99 / Zeta / Koetsu Black

How remiss of me Chris, I do apologise most profusely for my omission This was my LP12 at the time I moved it on. Linn Akito arm and Denon DL110 high output MC cart. I had the deck serviced and set-up by a Linn dealer but it wasn't a patch on the same arm/Ortofon Samba low output MC cart/Rothwell MC1 SUT/Croft Micro 25 set-up.

This is mine GPA 'Monaco' with 12" Tri That would be pretty much my target turntable and arm (although my Dynavector is no slouch). Very nice combination indeed! How do you find its sound, Keith?

Martin Hi, It is the closest turntable to digital replay , it is allegedly the most accurate available I use a DV XV1S cart which has a pretty flat response I use the phono stage of my Illusonic processor ,I have tried to keep everything as quiet and neutral as possible. Keith

I wonder how the Monaco would compare to the reborn Technics.

Hard to say. The Monaco is a gorgeous ground-up DD design, but Panasonic sure know how to make a good DD motor. It would seem like the Monaco is more focussed on ultimate SQ, however.

I wonder how the Monaco would compare to the reborn Technics. Hard to organize Mark and would both need same cartridge on. Do you still have the same TT that won the competition in AOS a few years ago?
