This one was quite deep. Not quite as foreboding as you'd think a whole Cosmos would be 🙂 The Black Hole track from this series wasn't a deep hole at all😂 Disappointing hole, more like.

TV watching diary cleared.. Time for fun park robots, gone sapient and wanting revenge on a future rather sick world... Bring on series 4 Westworld. Perhaps should have retitled it KillerRobotsInOurWorld. We'll see. I liked the first series. They have become progressively more impenetrable and S4 especially so. Hehe, don't expect it to get any better.. I read a recap of the previous series' before starting a new.. Complicated🙂 They used Lana Del Rey Video games (own instrumental) in episode 2. Episode 3 things got clearer, sort of

I imagine it will would be great at single wheel drifts and donuts 🙂 Oh wait, that's not environmentally friendly, or a sensible use of energy🙂

I'm listening to the new Spatial stuff on Qobuz and comparing it to standard.
All are in hi-res..
I've not, er, actually found my AKGs, or charged the head amp etc😂 that's how often they get used!
So doing it on Qobuz phone app and with a pair of AT noise cancelling headphones - I guess this is more the target audience? Or could be one type of target audience, at any rate.
I can definitely hear the difference, and prefer the Spatial presentation.
It's like a different mix or remix of something you've heard before.. Definitely more open and slightly out of head on some sounds. Some are definitely still in head - have to be, I guess, to make the out of head ones, be out of head.
Bass is definitely more impactful, not deeper though, just where it is.
So, overall a good experience for me.
I'm just a casual phones user though. I'll have to look at Head-Fi and see what they say.
Will have to try the same tracks on my main rig and see if there's a difference too?

Finally a car the Jetsons would be proud of 🙂 Def want one😂 In wheel motors, efficient 👍, unsprung weight..? Who cares. Lightweight 2000lbs😮 Just under twice the weight of a Caterhsm SLR etc. Wonder when they cotton on that a lardass driver (CEO) isn't helping range 🙂

Will have to dust off my AKGs and try this..
(Copied from elsewhere)
Qobuz
I'm not a headphones listener generally, but this Friday they released three titles in THX Spatial Audio.
THX Spatial Audio, only available on Qobuz! Combining our standard of 24-bit audio clarity with the 360 degree “out of the head” experience of THX Spatial Audio, each song gives listeners the feeling of literally being in a space with the performers. Be sure to listen with headphones and enjoy!
And word is that they're going to bring in DSD releases soon. And supposedly they're still hard at work on Qobuz Connect (or whatever they end up calling it).
This Friday's new releases at Qobuz (happens every Friday) include high-resolution streaming of albums from Danger Mouse, Megan Thee Stallion, Danny Elfman, Alicia Keys, Toshi Kasai. Last Friday was Neil Young, **bleep** Riot, Eminem. Two weeks ago was Beyonce, Little Feat, Amanda Shires, Grateful Dead, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Of Montreal, Josh Rouse.
And that's only the high-res titles that I recognize as "popular" artists. Every Friday brings probably 20-25 featured new albums, all minimum CD-quality 44.1/16, with many in high-resolution up to 192/24.

I prefer by artist from a playlist pov. Keep them in alphabetical order. I have a couple of 'demo my system' playlists too.
I also use the favourite track and artist feature a lot, especially for new music and things I come across that need more listening. From there when playing, I often click into the album or artist to discover more.
I occasionally play the recommended / curated playlists.
I don't listen to whole albums anywhere near as much as I used to - way of the streaming world for me.

Someone on another forum posted: This is still in my top 5 ever TV shows. Why have more people not seen it? It was good. Implausible violence though. Seeing him ponce / fly about in a cape and red laser eye people in half, as Homelander (Captain America breaking bad) in The boys, kinda spoiled him😂

Not quite sure how I came across Lilyhammer but started watching - not generally into 'dramedy' but it's quite engaging, with Steven Van Zandt being the reason it works. The first series is amusing. It kinda fizzled on us. Just don't cross him! Know wat I'm saying..

Sub 30Hz to be had. The deep stuff is fairly suble. Good message in the song and album😃

I think you just need the chip that does I2S over HDMI voltage conversion and the reverse. LVDS? As for the brain getting bored, I don't really see that. As the SQ improves, and fatigue reduces, the wow factor remains. At least it does for me. Boredom is perhaps not the right word, it's more subtle than that. But familiarity breeds a need, for something, as the saying goes 🙂

I read these things with interest. The I2S over HDMI isn't really HDMI / "do not use an HDMI cable", written on every pinout configuration🙂 I wonder if any is those configurations could be connected directly to my Najda 'raw' I2S input? I'm guessing not, but haven't figured it out yet.. Gustard The points that need to be connected Frame sync, clock and audio data, with associated gnds. With regards to ever improving systems after tweaks, alluded to above. My take on it. Not all changes are improvements and get binned. The brain is very plastic. It's not a digital machine, it's not constant, it ages, as do our sensory organs, it learns and reinvents itself to some extent. The brain gets bored. After a while we listen and the once wow becomes the usual (that's the brains' nature). A new wow comes along, that can be true wow, or it is different. Regardless, after a while the brain will get bored (not all brains seen to be like this, but certainly audiophile brains are), and wants more. Upon this, the audio upgrade industry is based. What's interesting is to go back to an old system that once upon a time wowed us. Our brain has probably moved on and finds this unsatisfactory. Nothing wrong with it, it's the brains nature.

And (yet) another one bites the dust. The third, and what looks like the last, series of The Orville was probably the best one yet. Way fewer fart jokes, and a much stronger, plot-oriented show, it was different from the first two series in all the good ways it could be. It was still full of humour, but it also had epic space battles and an actual plot arc that was resolved. Deaths, marriages, love among the stars, Moclan naked mating rituals in forests, this one had it all. It was almost like " real" Star Trek, with a wicked sense of humour. Oh, one more thing, Gordon sings, several times, so does Bortus. 😂 ah it's the old traditions eh! How many of us play 3000yr old clay pipes, glockenspiels or drums.

I haven't played the guitar in years now. Lost all interest. I do have a recording (on cassette), from the early 90s of a Swedish band we were in. Marie was keyboards and backing vocals. Used to lug her Yamaha DX7 keyboard around!
I doubt the tape would even play now! Not sure we have any means of playing it even. Same with video tapes..
Not going to even try to digitise it / put it up here, so you'll have to imagine🙂

I've put this one up before but it deserves another mention - flat / full energy at 20Hz! Totally listenable to also, in my book. Rare beast indeed.
