The thing about Parky was that no matter how much personal fame and celebrity he garnered, he always made his interviews about the guest, and never himself. That art seems to have been lost with todays disposable presenters, and celebrity arseholes like Piers Morgan. The guest is lucky to get a word in these days.

Ah, fuck! One of my favourite guitarists, and a Facebook " friend" Bernie Marsden has died, aged 72. I managed to get signed copies of his last three albums; Chess, Kings, and Trios thanks to his Facebook page. It was only recently that Bernie started to auction off his guitar collection, including the famous "Beast". Such was the outcry from fans, he relented and said he'd hang on to the Beast for a bit longer. The full statement from Bernie's family reads as follows: " On behalf of his family, it is with deep sadness we announce the death of Bernie Marsden. Bernie died peacefully on Thursday evening with his wife, Fran, and daughters, Charlotte and Olivia, by his side.
Bernie never lost his passion for music, writing and recording new songs until the end." RIP Bernie, and I still want your guitar. OBIT |
