Yeah, not his surface. He has won it so he's focusing on bagging more Wimbledon's and perhaps US opens.. Clay is such a grind over 5 sets, esp at 35!

1st set Petra 6-3. She's seeded 15! I didn't realise it would be that high.

Kvitova lost to Mattek-Sands. The latter has been troubled by injury her entire career (32 now). She's never had a good run at singles. Capable player. Top doubles player.. It was fairly close. Tiebreak first and second set. Kvitova not quite match fit..

I thoroughly enjoyed watching Konta in her epic battle against Halep last night. That was an unexpected and well deserved win and was more like watching men's tennis in its speed and ferocity. Fantastic!

Venus just too on it for Konta. Had Venus given her more time she might have been able to expose Venus slightly slower movement. But Venus played it exactly right. She's been blighted by chronic illness for so long. She really would have won much more bar that.
I can see Muguruza beating Venus. But you never know.. Hope the real Venus shows up.
Yes FedExpress should power through, but tennis is a game of fine margins. His style is what wows..
I'll be watching this afternoon.

The first set was quite close wasn't it? After that....well, it was a rout.

Yeah, collapse. Ran out of gas and Garbine got her forehand under control and hung with the longer rallies no problems. Venus has a long history of fatigue illness. You just don't know how it's going to affect you day to day. To win 7 top class matches and be the only one out of the 128 that enter is a tall order if you're not young and in top form.

Well done Roger and thank God he did it , 8 Wimbledons , the pressure is off now . I think only Nadal was capable of beating him this year but he got mugged , the rest were injured or not up to it.

Yes. Roger was matchless on grass after the first tournament. Halle and Wimbledon all wins. GOAT.

Well done Roger , nearly blew it then ran out an easy fifth set which didn't look on the cards . Cilic just couldn't sustain his top game , I really thought he was going to do it at 2 sets all.

I have to say it was an absolute delight watching Emma Raducanu win the US Open just now. What an absolutely extraordinary accomplishment!
