I could not see a tennis thread so thought I'd start one.
I watch and play a lot of tennis! I use TennisTV streaming of all the ATP250, 500, 1000 and WTA tournaments of note to watch.
There's live and catchup facilities so you can see the matches that are of interest and really follow the action on the weekly grind!
The 4 Grandslams are all covered by the owning club (history) and rights sold a little differently so following them is Eurosport / BBC / ITV4 / Eurosport (if you don't have a the Sky package 2nd mortgage - which I don't).
Anyway what a week of tennis it's been!
Beijing (ATP500)
Murray coming through on a couple of tight matches but ultimately not able to find a way past Djokovic! The high number of net points won by Djokovic was notable!
Nadal put out by Klizan! Nice to see Nadal's fire being met with fire. Nadal's run around the backhand tactics so powerful against most opponents was not working as usual, he was not given the time. Some really big hitting from the Slovak. Time violations for Nadal and perhaps not quite match fit, he was a break up in the 3rd but Klizan broke straight back to love! Some amazing forehands that push Nadal back, as he so often does to his opponents! Nadal was ultimately outplayed and this caused errors to be forced and it was missing and not so good net play as Djokovic. Klizan really went after the Nadal 2nd serve too!
Taking the match 6-3 in the 3rd. Great win!
Klizan to face Berdych in about 4 hrs time for a shot at Djokovic in the final!
In Tokyo (ATP500) Raonic through to the final against Nishikori or B. Becker (match ongoing). That's Bejamin Becker - no relation.
Becker wins the 1st set, Nishikori the 2nd 6-0! Nishikori takes the match. Sweet!
Federar is resting up - he qualified for the ATP showdown in London in Nov first of all the big guns. Murray might just squeak it if he has a good run of form.
The ladies have also been busy in Beijing - Sharapova (I wish she'd STFU) and Ivanovic (more pleasant cooing effort noise) in the semis (fine figures of tennis ladies there however!) and Sam Stosur and Petra Kvitova in the other semi... Hard to call, but I expect Kvitova to have too much of an all court game for Sam and perhaps Ivanovic to take it. She's really been on form lately...
Me, I've been busy playing singles (I also play doubles, but singles is where it's all at really), played one league match on Momday, two practise matches during the week and have my 2nd league match tomorrow.
