Murray cruised the 1st set but had more of a tussle in the 2nd - he seemed irritated by his opponents grunting - Marie and I commented on how he would fare playing Sharapova;)

Murray up again today. Close first set against Janowicz. Just put the pressure on at the right time to win 7-5. Broke the spirit of the Pole after that and won the 2nd set 6-2. Murray will now face Ferrer in the next round. Ferrer had a very close match and squeaked it - I didn't see it - can't watch all of the.
Stan Wawrinka the Swiss Aus open champ is playing Simon of France, again close. 7-5 in the 1st set to Stanilas (aka Stan the man) Wawrinka
Me - after a bit of a wet Monday, no play, I got a practise game yesterday, won 6-2 and had a great practise knock up after that. Hope to do the same again tomorrow. Just like the pro's at the grandslams, I like a rest day between games:)
I have another Head Genesis 660 frame coming my way - bought for pennies. It needs strings - suits me perfectly as I will string it with Prince Softflex (multi-fibre) 16 gauge, at a fairly loose poundage - that's how I like em.

Murray out! Lost 1-2 to Ferrer. He played a blinding first set but could not keep it up. Wawrinka also out. Djokovic playing now...

Nadal out too. He lost to Lopez fellow Spaniard. Lopez was playing very well. 14 aces, just looked easy and assured. Nadal made more errors than usual and his shot making was just not there to put the usual relentless pressure on we've seen in the past. So straight sets win for Lopez, tiebreaker for the clincher.
Lopez then went on to beat 6'10" giant Isner (USA), in straight sets to. Lopez's on a roll.
Djokovic and Federer are firm favourites for the final.
I believe Federer will now over take Nadal in the ATP ranking. Djokovic has had the best year by far though and is some 4000 points clear of the rest on over 12000!
I got my racquet restrung yesterday, but it rained at the allotted time, so no play. Perhaps this afternoon will be better?
I have my 2nd league match tomorrow, weather permitting.

Just watching the Federer v Benniteau match. Really attractive tennis compared to say Ferrer or Murray etc. Lots of net rushes and all court play. Love it.
Earlier Lopez beat Youznyov and Djockovic beat Ferrer. Well done Lopez made the semi's!

semi finals of the Sanghai ATP1000 event.
Simon (Frenchman) beat Lopez of Spain fairly comfortably. Lopez does have a slight back issue but Simon just had the bigger baseline court game and just enough on his passing shots to make it really hard for Lopez. Lopez was winning most of the times he came to the net at one point and sensed it, and came in even more - great to watch! Then Simon started stretching Lopez at the net some more...
The other semi is between Djokovic and Federer - perhaps should been the final? But they seeded Nadal higher than Federer for this tournament. I will watch that this evening. Final tomorrow morning our time.
Nadal is reporting have an appendicitis!!! Wouldn't wanna to have played with that! He's on antibiotics and plans to play some indoor tournaments soon! I thought appendicitis required an operation.
Me, I played my 2nd league match today and won it 6-2, 6-4.
Now for F1 qually:)

Wow super match by Federer. He was solid against Djokovic. Great win/loss ratio at the net. Just too strong. Great match.
So the final tomorrow is Simon vs Federer.

Just catching up on the women's final from the Japan open. Stosur (AUS) vs Diyas (KAZ). The younger broke early on I in the first set but Sam just broke back for 5 all. Can the youngster ranked 234 keep her head together? If she wins she'll be about 37 in the world!

Wow that was a great win for Federer. Close match though. Federer was down a break most of the 1st set but worked out that Simon didn't like his sliced backhand and upped using it a lot. He also served 0 double faults. It's the first time he's won the Shanghai tournament - would have thought he'd won them all by now!
Next week all hell breaks loose with the Stockholm open for the men, and for the women it's Moscow and Luxembourg tournaments:)

Murray will be in Vienna - That starts on TennisTV tomorrow. He's chasing all the points he can to try and get into the top 8 for the showdown in London.
There's still time with a couple of 250 point tournaments, a 500 and a 1000 still.

Been watching a couple of men's matches. My daughter (18) commented on how much harder the men his the ball and that the women should play best of 5 sets at grand slams to earn the same prize money as men! It's an interesting point as the men step up from, best of 3 sets on the tour to best of 5, but you get a days rest at a grand slam usually. So perhaps it evens out. The best of 5 is more like Test Cricket - a real test. Sorts the men out from the boys. As it is the women, as my daughter observed, play best of 3 sets at every tournament and at grand slams get a day off - and the same pay! Don't get me wrong I love watching women's tennis. Best of 5 would be great:) There have been some Men vs Women clashes - how staged or real they has been is debatable. Serena & Venus Williams took part in one years ago when she was 16. Interesting en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Sexes_(tennis)

Murray has made it through to the final of the Vienna open. It's only a 250 point tournament but he is not winning the 500's, 1000' let alone the 2500 point grand slams at the moment so... From little acorns...

Murray wins the Vienna open 250 - very close match with Ferrer. The Spaniard runs down everything. He is consistent but just lacks the fizz that the top say 4-5 players can produce, so they invariably beat him. This means Murray will be in the top 8 for the show down in London... Meanwhile, Dimitrov has played Berdych at the Stockholm open 250 tournament - I've yet to see that one. Later on today perhaps. The Swiss open starts - Nadal will play Bolelli The Valencia 500 also starts and the for the ladies the Singapore top 8 show down starts today - Serena Williams vs Anna Ivanovic Simona Halep vs Eugenie Bouchard - all eyes on the ladies I think:) Here they are pre-tournament
