What are decent replacements for these 'non-essential' fuses? For what application? Mains power fuses or DC rail fuses? HiFi Tuning Supreme are good for DC rails.

Found a spare SR Red for the Coherent Systems LPS.
Ordered a Hifi Tuning Supreme for the FiiO PL50 LPS.

Out of curiosity...
I'm happy with the SR fuses I have (Red, Orange, Purple).
Has anyone here tried any of the QSA fuses? More thinking of the entry price fuses for LPS duty.

The thought of paying £8,000 for their top fuse. Madness, unless perhaps you have a £5M system?

I can’t see how anybody can charge £8000 for what looks like a Bussmann fuse with stickers on, even if it does spectacular things. I would expect pure gold, custom milled fuse caps for that money.

I looked at trying the cheaper end of the QSA fuses. I did a lot of reading people’s feedback online, which can be hard with all the naysayers who interrupt threads. The summary I came to was that the QSA have a hifi sound, but the SR fuses have a more musical sound. Now, that was without hearing them at all. But I read enough snippets from other users which supported that trend. I was only thinking about them as the SR Oranges were becoming more rare. But as luck (eBay) has it, a bit of patience and some used ones kept popping up. I am now moving to a few key Purples. Hope that helps.

More than enough satisfaction for me with SR Purple and Orange. I have a couple of Purples spare. 5 x 20mm slow blow 6.3A

but the SR fuses have a more musical sound. I agree with that, and would go further: The Orange and Purple are outstanding, bringing out the music, detail and soundstage in a highly beguiling way. The Red is old world, good but not in the above category. The Blue is mushy and horrible.

The blue is pretty kack no question 100% spot on there Martin, the purple divides my chaps, I hate them it uttertly screws up my systems ability to flow. Other systems it produces a leading egde detail bonanza and if you have quite a safe sound, it can produce some good results.
Oranges are great all rounders and always deliver.
I did break out the master fuses last week (they took 3 days to cook the blighters) again with the right system I can see these making a difference, I use two mains feeds for my 12 outlet mains conditioner, one for low and mid level, one for higher level equipment.
Interesting results, the low and mid level equipment really did like it's effects quality all round improvement there, the high level streamers/dac/clocks they no likey at all.
Turned the sound from a natural fuild, articulate musical involving presentation into like listening to a pair of M series Magico's with constaltions.
So a mixed result, however I would suggest those trying them out spend time finding the correct placement for them.
Imho the perform better with mains conditoners and power amplifiers, so try in those locations first.

I haven’t heard of a room paint being on the market, but I’d guess at something similar being used on his fuses , because they are coated in a type of paint with what looks like a blob of Graphene in the middle.
