MartinT How did you conclude that having the Purple fuses in your streamer and DAC was the best place over the regenerators or power supplies, or amp for that matter? Good question and my first SR Purple fuse came about because Sonore ship the Signature Rendu SE with one. I added another Purple to the plug and then started pairing up the DDC and DAC fuses. The SR Purple couples fantastically well with digital equipment, offering insight but not over-brightness once everything has burned in. I stopped with Purples at that point, not wanting to over-egg the pudding but loving what they do. I then back-filled with Oranges for all the non-digital components and the system balance remained good as the Orange is very neutral. I don't want to spoil the balance I've achieved so I have striven to retain that balance. This poses problems because of the limited supply of Orange fuses, but I have all that I need at the moment. By the way, the Purple is a fantastic fuse but I think my system balance could tilt if there were too many installed.

MartinT Thank you for your feedback that is very useful. You hit on one of the key reasons for my question and that was the limited supply of the Oranges, as I have a number on my "fuse to do list" which are not 13amp and as such I can either not find them in Orange or I can get Purple for the same price. I wanted to get your insight as like you I am not wanted to change the balance, but I know I have left some performance on the table with low end fuses or dare I say it default fuses in some IEC inlets. [Shocked face]

I have SR Purple, Orange an a Red fuse.
SR Orange in my power supplies. SR Purple in my Dac, and two in my integrated amp.
Have a thought that maybe would be a good idea to swap the Orange fuses into my amp.

I have a 13A SR Orange mains fuse in the plug of the Coherent 6D power cord that supplies my D'Agostino Momentum HD preamp and an SR Orange T1.0A fuse in the fuse holder of the IEC input. I also have a 13A SR Orange mains fuse in the Coherent BD power cord feeding my D'Agostino Momentum S250 MxV power amp, with an SR Orange T10A fuse in the fuse holder of the IEC input. The 5 x 20mm SR internal fuses are certainly a big leap over the D'Agostino stock fuses.

For anyone considering the purchase of a Synergistic Research Master Fuse in the UK, the pain of the purchase price of £595 can be eased by a current trade-in offer from Audio Emotion.
I don't know if other UK dealers are offering the same deal, or if they are, they're keeping quiet about it!
Anyway, if you want to "trade in" an SR Purple Fuse, against the purchase of an SR Master Fuse, Audio Emotion will knock £150 off!
They will also give you £100 for any SR Orange Fuse, traded in, against the purchase of a Master Fuse.
I happen to have 4 x Synergistic Research Orange F12.5A 32mm (the large American type) which I bought on a "Buy 2 Get 1 Free" offer, when we were still in the EU.
They were used in the DC Power Rail fuse holders on the rear of my Conrad Johnson Premier 350SA power amp, which I removed and replaced the stock fuses, on selling the amp.
I haven't had much luck, moving them on, but Audio Emotion were happy to accept one (any size/rating as long as it's an SR Orange) and to knock £100 off the purchase price of a Master Fuse.

These guys are also offering £100 off without any trade-in. I have been sent the offer, but reach out to them if you are interested. The other week they offered a Purple for 20% off. www.ebay.co.uk/str/wintersaudio

I couldn't see Obi offering any discount off the Master Fuse though!

I think I'm going to leave it alone for the moment. I fear the purchase of a Master fuse may unsettle the perfect balance I've achieved, and how many would I need? Two regenerators means four fuses Nope, not going there.

A couple of Ebay "Watcher" offers turned up in my in-box from Winters Audio.
An SR F13A Master Fuse being offered for £525 instead of £595, so a £70 reduction and free postage!
An SR F13A Purple Fuse being offered for £156 instead of £190, so a £34 reduction and free postage!
Unfortunately, he's not offering any 5 x 20mm internal fuses of various ratings on his Ebay shop, which is what I might have been interested in at a discounted price.

On further listening today, I cannot fault my system balance. I really don't want to lose that, so I'm not going to try a Master fuse for now unless something changes in the future.

Very lucky we don't have fuses in our power cables.

This will be another benefit of the Schuko conversion of the Gordion conditioners. If I had thought about it properly I could have purchased the Schuko versions at the outset.

SR Orange fuses are becoming difficult to find at my rating. Bought three in January for my core power supplies.
Have a couple more linear power supplies I want to upgrade the fuses on. The FiiO L50 LPS on the modem A Coherent Systems LPS I will end up pairing with my Intel Nuc.
What are decent replacements for these 'non-essential' fuses?
