Evening Chaps, hope you are having a relaxed and enjoyable weekend. Well, we are in bloody March already, just where does the time go? I really am at a loss with portion of life. We have been really seriously busy with a wide variety of activities within electronics and analogue systems (lol yes) plus further expansion of the lab and storage facilities. As of this week we are now one of the most extensively equipped electronics labs in the UK and well as the expertise on a wide range of electronics from audio and beyond!

The bucket, eh? now that would be divulging? merely a place to put 'not quite ready projects' or a gateway to my home planet? which one indeed What I will mention, the lab is now the most 'coherently' organised it’s been in a fgew long time. Just been fed up with being buried under a mountain of parts/spares and casework with boxes everywhere and no space to actually perform any work! Need to just clear the decks as they say as sometime you just feel sod it enough!!! In the last few months, the work area and storage have been totally re-organised, lab has been upgraded a couple of times (lol) space has been quantized (lol), a new storage container installed and a shout out to Portable space absolutely top-notch company and ultra helpful with precise siting of the unit. If only all companies had this customer relations ethic! To construct the flat pack storage container and install the foliage around the unit around 90 minutes just two of us. Security extra's this year include hidden cameras as well as the usual suspects, numerous smoke generators, extra high security restraints, armour plating, strobes exterior lighting plus a couple of other interesting features Further plans for this year, total redecoration and layout change in the main music room, improved interior lighting, new remastering PC and software demonstrations suit in the listening space. Due shortly, a new reference streaming system, the brand-new design Tad GE-1 speakers which have on the boat from the land of the rising Sun , plus my new amplifier design is entering its finial testing/tweaking phase. So, it is all coming together as planned at the correct pace. I will also endeavour to keep the blog updated in a timelier manner as well lol

External storage - thinking out of the box (!) there, Tony.
You will certainly need the security to be top-notch.

Hi Martin,
Yes completely agree all aspects of this area have been gone really in-depth to make it as difficult and as awkward as humanly possible in that particular arena.
One other item I haev recently added to the lab, a much larger ultrasonic cleaning tank, this one can handle 90% of the case work (size wise) as well so if performing a restoration or refurbish then all of the unit can be broiught back to pretty much as 'as new' state.

Is there room for any of the neighbours or council to object to those containers ? Like the Ikea idea of making them on site

Hello Mike
I did consult the neighbours all around before installing both of them the first one has been up 4 years now, hence the colour and extra camouflage, no fuilds/gases or harmful materials are stored just work in progress and the other is new spares and construiction materials.
It's quite surprising that you just don't notice them until you walk past from the lower half of the road, one chap who popped in yesterday made a comment about the second one as he was leaving after a couple of hours!

Hi Tony,
With all your equipment in the Test lab, can the effect of a good ground box be measured? I’ve just been reading comments on a YouTube video about grounding boxes and they were saying it can’t be measured, so doesn’t work, but clearly many people swear by them. I will be building one in the next few weeks.

Yes the effects of why and how a grounding device is measurable if understand what the actual mechanism is at play that is causing the end result. I have even demonstrated the measurement process on this very forum a few years ago. What you need to understand is that to actually see any meaningful results the device under test has to connected to audio equipment while it's in operation.
Over the last few years I have benchmarked all of the commercial available units from cheap arsed Ali express stuff to the big ticket CAD etc.
They all have an effect to a greater or less degree but it is very system and connecting cable dependant imho.

Yes. As soon as all the parts arrive I’ll try to take pictures as I put it together. 5kg of Magnetite arrived today, but everything else could be a month away.
