My latest bit of Ninja has arrived, along with some Kilner jars. 4-ingredient Cashew butter incoming when I get my sea salt flakes from Sainsbury's tomorrow afternoon. Cashews Sea Salt Flakes Honey Avocado Oil Zap it all together for 5 miutes or so, and voila, Cashew Butter, or so I'm led to believe. We'll see. I'm also topping up my frozen fruit with a 500g pack of Sainsbury's Frozen Peach & Nectarine Slices to go with the cherries and the berries. Plus, I've decided it would be a decent idea to pre-slice my bananas and bung them in individual small freezer bags, to avoid the end-of-the-week-brown-banana debacle. Bananas for body/fibre and unpasteurized and unfiltered raw honey for sweetness and health value, along with a mixture of Alpro Hazelnut milk and Onken Natural Set Yogurt (so I don't need to eat my smoothie with a knife and fork) has been my "base" so far, with goji berries, dates, cherries, raspberries, strawberries, avocado, blackberries, and blackcurrants added in varying amounts. I'm looking forward to the peach and nectarine slices to give me even more variety. I'd fallen back into the habit of buying and eating desserts, usually some sort of yoghurty thing, with fruit, but on occasion treating myself to something horribly sugary. The smoothies are now replacing all of those desserts. I've had this Nutribullet for a few years now and don't have your imagination Paul. Never thought of freezing bananas for example, or using avacados. They're fantastic bits of gear when used properly and with imagination

It's all been a matter of seeing what I've already got on hand (dates, figs, cashews, honey) what Sainsbury's sell (the fresh/frozen fuit, milk, yoghurt etc.) and having a quick Google about "smoothies," and "nut butter". I came across a mention of nut butter when I was investigating the Ninja, and took it from there. Just type "nutribullet recipes" into Google and prepare to lose a couple of hours annoying your loved ones by repeatedly saying "look at this one."

That's the beauty of these things. You can bung in whatever's to hand

I've noticed a real reduction in my sugar craving having been alternate day fasting for a week. Only had one small treat the whole week. Very pleasing. This Waitrose chickpea, spinach and quinoa is one of my favourite things to eat at present.

The Ninja would probably give a Jumbo Jet a run for its money, noise-wise. The instructions seem to think that one zap on the "Powermix" setting should be enough for Peanut Butter. Cashew's shouldn't make much of a difference, but one go-round is not even close. The "Power Paddle" does work though, and helps direct the stuff at the top back down towards the blades.
It didn't feel particualrly hot, but I thought I'd give iit time to "breathe" between attacks.
One final thing, now I've got it unboxed, the weight of the base unit leaves my poor little Breville for dead. It's like a brick.
Seconds away, round two...
[EDIT]
A smidge too sallty, and I'm guessing not enough oil.
Straight on to batch #2

It still came out more "granular" than gloopy (technical term) even with the extra avocado oil. Salt content is about right now. The beauty of it is, even though the texture isn't right it's still delicious and perfectly edible. I know what'll be on my lunchtime crumpets tomorrow.

The Nutribullet weighs a ton and is pretty noisy too Paul. I usually find I have to zap the contents 3 or more times. If you give it a rest between zaps the grainy bits fall to the bottom. I use smooth peanut butter in my smoothies but haven't tried to make my own. Sounds like you're nearly there mate.TBH I usually make my smoothies quite runny by using Almond or oat milk

They're still more sludgy than smoothie though.

Yup, similar here. Youghurt, banana, blueberries, peanut butter, Chia seeds and milk. Sometimes chuck in a bit of brocolli or spinach.Mines can be a bit sludgy, and green, too

First full week of new diet and for me it's a record weight loss - over 3kg. So now aiming to lose another 3 over next few weeks as the rate inevitably slows down. I put this new success down to adopting a new strategy - longer gaps between eating and being very careful about eating healthily - no sugar or alcohol and big reduction in carbs - no pasta, bread or white rice. Just one sweet treat the entire week, having fruit for dessert.

Yes I did similar last year. You will lose weight Jules with this. I plan to do again when spring comes.

I plan to do again when spring comes. I misread that as "I plan to do again with spring onions"!

I had to throw away the last bunch Sainsbury's sent me. I caught them listening to Eminem, and Jay-Z, and generally misbehaving Turns out they'd sold me a bunch of rap scallions. I've just made that one up. You're welcome.

My prunes/dried plums have arrived and some are going straight into tonight's smoothie. They are sweet, but not sickly, sticky, juicy, flavoursome, but not overpoweringly so, and all-around gorgeous. Well, you have to test these things out, don't you? I'm quite pleased I ordered a BIG pack.

I found grapes are always a good addition to smoothies. You have to watch the sugar, though.

The prunes are a definite success, I bunged 3 or 4 in and there was a nice flavour from thin running through the finished smoothie, but more like a hint, rather than anything remotely overpowering. The trouble is, I could sit with the pack in front of me and spend the whole night repeating the mantra " Just one more then..." They definitely need to live in the kitchen.
