Next subject - Bone Broth. I've been enjoying this Baxters stuff of late, and I'm thinking of investigating the "real" thing. Does anyone have any knowledge they'd care to share? The good stuff isn't cheap for the initial outlay, and it rounds out to about a quid a shot using the commonly recommended 10g per serve. I'm not keen on shelling out thirty-five quid without some good evidence to back it up. It's just stock Paul, simple to make at home.

True, if you can get the bones, and if you fancy boiling/simmering them for 24-48 hours from what I can gather. By necessity I have my groceries delivered, and Sainsbury's don't sell bones, end of story really.

24-48 hours is a bit extreme - 4-6 would suffice, I think. But fair point if you can't get the bones. I tend to just use remains and left overs that would otherwise go in the bin, chicken carcasses etc.

I had a mug of Bone Broth in place of my coffee this lunchtime. First impressions? I probably made it a little too weak, but quite palatable with a couple of grinds of pepper. It would/will make a nice base for a bit of shrimp paste, prawns, veg, and some glass noodles, a bit like a sort of like a laksa soup.

Banana, Goji Berries, Dates, Cherries, Plain Yoghurt, Almond Milk, and a spoonful of Honey. My first homemade smoothie. Very similar the the smoothies I've made the last few days. Banana, Blueberries, plain yoghurt, oat milk, chia seeds, honey, and smooth peanut butter. Enjoying smoothies again. How's the Breville Paul ?

Eventually, we're gonna need a bigger blender. I shall probably wait until I see one of the Ninja machines on sale though, and I still need to see if I'm going to stick with making them.

Lol...I started with the Breville just to see if I liked it. Moved to the Nutribullet a month or two later. I go off the smoothies for a while then always start with them again.

Yes, alright, I know what I said, but somebody sent me a £30.00 Amazon token, and it was already £20.00 off... smile.amazon.co.uk/Ninja-Blender-CB100UK-Auto-iQ-silver/dp/B08RJVDD69/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?th=1It gets some stonking good reviews, not only on Amazon, and the only major downside I could see was that it's supposed to be noisy... One woman said it was so loud it " scared" her cats. Well, I haven't got any cats. Another said she couldn't use it first thing in the morning because it would " wake the whole household up." I live alone. it arrives on Friday

My Nutribullet is not too bad but Ruth's Vitamix could scare most of Basingstoke!

New diet started on Monday and going well.
Some differences from previous attempts - no breakfast before 10am to extend the fasting period, with no manufactured cereal breakfasts. Minimal healthy snacking between breakfast and dinner - I don't eat lunch... No sweet treats and no alcohol during the week - can only be on the weekend. I am hoping this has the potential to improve the speed and extent of weight loss.

I couldn't use the Nutribullet then as them in my house would have battered me with it. Keep us posted on this beauty

Will-do, Brian. As I say, it gets some great reviews as well as the usual *odd* ones too, like my favourite... It sort of begs the question, " Why are you trying to use a 'melted ' blender, and then looking surprised when shit haoppens?" The odd-looking device at the top of the 400ml " power nutri bowl" - the power paddle - attracted me too. It's a manually operated thing as far as I can tell, and turning it during operation directs the mix back towards the blades. Useful for thicker stuff, like some of my smoothies so far. I'm also, once I get a bit braver, tempted to try making my own nut butters. The idea of making Almond butter (for instance) to feed back into my smoothies is oddy appealing in a weird DIY sort of way. PEANUT BUTTER RECIPE 400g blanched peanuts 2 tsp sea salt flakes 2-3 tsp peanut oil Not exactly complex, is it. [EDIT] I've just found another one that uses dry-roasted peanuts, and honey. This stuff is definitely going to be worth investigating.

I just bought myself a Nutribullet - reduced from 60 to 40 on Amazon.
Really looking forward to using it and should help very nicely with my current diet.

My latest bit of Ninja has arrived, along with some Kilner jars. 4-ingredient Cashew butter incoming when I get my sea salt flakes from Sainsbury's tomorrow afternoon. Cashews Sea Salt Flakes Honey Avocado Oil Zap it all together for 5 miutes or so, and voila, Cashew Butter, or so I'm led to believe. We'll see. I'm also topping up my frozen fruit with a 500g pack of Sainsbury's Frozen Peach & Nectarine Slices to go with the cherries and the berries. Plus, I've decided it would be a decent idea to pre-slice my bananas and bung them in individual small freezer bags, to avoid the end-of-the-week-brown-banana debacle. Bananas for body/fibre and unpasteurized and unfiltered raw honey for sweetness and health value, along with a mixture of Alpro Hazelnut milk and Onken Natural Set Yogurt (so I don't need to eat my smoothie with a knife and fork) has been my "base" so far, with goji berries, dates, cherries, raspberries, strawberries, avocado, blackberries, and blackcurrants added in varying amounts. I'm looking forward to the peach and nectarine slices to give me even more variety. I'd fallen back into the habit of buying and eating desserts, usually some sort of yoghurty thing, with fruit, but on occasion treating myself to something horribly sugary. The smoothies are now replacing all of those desserts.
