Sorry both, I thought it might need clarification. The only bottleneck is the PCIE 3 limits, it will work as fast as a PCIE 3 SSD. Ungrateful sods aren't we . . . you were only trying to be helpful

When ordering direct from the manufacturer is not the best idea you ever had...

No worse than stuff coming from China, with all the status updates but the package hasn't moved.

It's just that their "Customer Service & Technical Support" has an English 0800 number, and on their "Shipping" page it says " Shipping within the United Kingdom - Orders placed at Crucial.com/uk ship via UPS in 3-5 business days (Express Tracked-Signed Delivery)." I was sort of expecting it to be delivered from the UK, and not the Czech Republic via Germany, and to not have Royal Mail as the end carrier. They don't even have a Czech website. The company, Micron, which owns Crucial is American, just to confuse matters even further.

Yes, that reference to shipping within the UK is misused by quite a few eBay sellers, too. Really annoys me as it's a straight lie.

A quick visit to their feedback ususally sets the record straight. I know why the Chinese sellers do it, it's so they can fudge the delivery estimate, but there's simply no reason for not being honest in this case. The postage was free, and ordering from Europe wouldn't have put me off.

And there was me thinking "At least it's left Germany, after starting life in the Czech Republic so it must be on a plane to the UK now".
Nope, it went (I assume) by road ...to The Netherlads. It's arrived at the Hague now.
I wonder if they'll send it down the coast to France (via Belgium, obviously) and give it to a refugee to take across from Calais to Dover on a small boat, and then post it for them.

It's a bit like the saga to get my Beyerdynamic headphone amplifier direct from Beyer in Germany - that was a right palaver and I really doubted it was ever going to arrive.

I did order a Miele washing machine and dishwasher once from the UK. I was surprised to find a delivery company from Germany dropping them off on two pallets. It transpired that the items had been shipped to me direct from the factory in Germany instead of from a warehouse somewhere near n the UK.

YAY!!!!
2023-05-02 09:29:23 IN CUSTOMS CUSTOMS IMPORT DECLARATION SOUTHALL, MIDDLESEX UB2 5LF, GB
I'll tell you what though, if this finally gets handed over to Royal Mail, and there's an additional charge for import duty, Crucial is going to get such a rocket up its arse it won't know what fekkin hit it. I'm already unimpressed with the fact that I ordered this over a week ago now, and it's only just landed in this country.

I ordered a whole bunch of parts today from Scan, Amazon and Quiet PC - I wonder who'll get their stuff first I know. I should have paid a few quid more and bought it on Amazon. Ah, well, I'll look on it as a learning experience.

OH, FFS! Just to cap it all, I was silly enough to check Amazon, and it's now 52% off, at £39.99, which is nearly a fiver less than I paid Crucial.
[EDIT] I bought another one, it's arriving Saturday. That's Photoshop and its "Scratch Disk" taken care of on the new machine.

Received, and inserted, as the actress said to the Bishop.
After my second M2.2 drive arrives, on Saturday, I can see about starting the actual build.
On a side note, I'd almost forgotten how badly tiny little screws and short, stubby little fingers worked together. I have a feeling that this is just the beginning of loads of swearing emanating from casa Slinger in the coming days.

Wishing you well, Paul, with your new build but I'd prefer being dipped in shite then set on fire to using Windows 11...
