I saw Oppenheimer again yesterday and Barbie Friday night - absolutely loved it, hilarious in many parts, poignant in others. Very cleverly written and it's definitely not a kids film! Of the 40+ people in the theatre (8.15pm showing) there was no-one under 30 and the majority of the audience were 50+ of mixed gender. Could possibly be Greta Gerwing's best film to date . . . for the cinema I saw it in, it's their biggest selling film of 2023 so far.
Seeing Oppenheimer again really highlighted how outstanding Cillian Murphy's performance is, unless anything else comes along, he really deserves an Oscar. I have just read American Prometheus and the film is extremely accurate to the true facts of Oppenheimer's life, so Nolan has done a superb job - looking forward to his next project

I saw that completely blind Jules as I noticed it was an A24 film and they make good indie films - had some time to kill and was in the Arts Centre anyway for something else, so it was a total gamble!
I thought it was great, liked it a lot, so I didn't waste the £4.50

Looks to have the production quality and scare quotient of Blair Witch Project.

Looks to have the production quality and scare quotient of Blair Witch Project. If you watch the review, that genre in general and that movie in particular, get mentions.

I only watched the trailer as other people's reviews often irritate me.

Well, after the dust has settled a bit my thought on Oppenheimer is that it will be nice to have it available on streaming somewhere to re-watch it when the mood strikes.
I saw it twice in theater and I'd say I'd probably would have gone back for one more viewing at the cinema.
Are there any films you had to see twice or more at the cinema?
I went 4 times to see Candyman in 2021.

I've seen 2001: A Space Odyssey three times in the cinema and several more times on Blu-ray. Each time I have enjoyed it more than before.

Wow I still haven't seen 2001 in full yet. I better get cracking.
I saw 2001 and Clockwork Orange once as a kid many years ago while drunk lol.

Been trying this whole time to see 'Talk To Me'. It hasn't been available at any time that I could go see it.
Went to theater to see The Nun 2 instead. Lost power halfway through the film. Trees on power lines everywhere, most roads closed, everybody funneled into one miles long stretch of traffic through the middle of a town to get to the highway exits.
Will go again today but this entire stretch films that began with The Conjuring and Annabelle has been really good.
Might have to travel as far as the state of Maine next weekend to see Talk To Me.

Talk to Me is pretty decent as far as modern horrors go, best horror I've seen in sometime at the cinema.

Despite Tim's earnest misgivings, I've got tickets for A Haunting in Venice on Monday night, the new Kenneth Branagh Poirot movie. I'm looking forward to it.

Oh I've no doubt you'll love it Jules . . . I don't have any misgivings for anyone else enjoying it, just me, as it's not my type of film . . . even free! I saw Past Lives for the second time today - this is my new movie of the year, an absolute masterpiece of cinema. Perhaps not quite up there with Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Aftersun and Drive My Car, but it's very very close. Not bad for a debut film.
