Barbie - not on my list of must sees but reviews are remarkable. It is on mine and has been ever since it was announced. I'm a very big fan of both Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach - both together on one film is an absolute must see for me.
So I'll be a 'Barbenheimer' film goer

Haha, well if you just look at the cover then I can understand that . . . but Gerwig and Baumbach don't make shit films, well not what I'd call shite anyway . . . . YMMV

Anyone seen Barbie yet? Yet to read/hear a bad review for it.
I'm hoping to see both Barbie and Oppenheimer this week.

I read some so/so reviews of Barbie when it was released.
I won't be seeing either but look forward to hearing your thoughts on them Tim.

I want to see both of those, although I'm at a loss to explain quite why "Barbie" fascinates me. I think part of the reason may be that several people I dislike for their right-wing views (Ted Cruz etc.) on Twitter - which I refuse to call it "X" - are up in arms about it for some reason. Oh, and Fox News want to ban it for being "too woke". And this,

Ha Piers Morgan . . I wish somebody would execute him . . . what a hateful and objectionable human being. Not many people I'd like to punch in the face, but . . . .
It's not Barbie that fascinates me, it's Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach - they're both outstanding, as is Christopher Nolan.

I definitely want to see Oppenheimer. The other one, not so much.

I definitely want to see Oppenheimer. IMAX is the plan for me, still a bit busy at the moment here though . . . with all the rain folk seem to be going to the cinema, good to see though, cinemas need some revenue.

I watched the first hour-or-so of Barbie tonight. No spoilers but I'll say that the opening sequence was by far the best part so far, i.m.h.o..

At the theater now. Barbie was too packed so I'm at Oppenheimer for a 2nd viewing.
Oppenheimer: A few stellar interactions by very competent actors and also Oppenheimer knows how to make 3 hours go by pretty quickly.

I watched the second half of Barbie in my mojo dojo casa house tonight. It was OK, not terrible, not great either. There was some nice use of music towards the end, and it was really well acted, choreographed, and shot, there just didn't seem enough of a story to sustain it. Obviously, that's just a personal opinion, and I'm probably as far as one can get - without actually being dead - from the movie's target demographic. I'm glad I saw it though; at least I know what all the fuss is/was about now.

Phenomenal. Does anyone know where the two other IMAX cinemas are that support the full 15/70 standard (apart from the Science Museum London)?
EDIT: answered my own question. BFI London and Vue Manchester.

I'd love to see that version, but I'll have to settle for the regular IMAX. I'm shortly going to read this book . . .

BFI London and Vue Manchester. BFI IMAX is fab. The screen is absolutely massive and you feel very close to it with the steeply raked seating, a really immersive experience. Audio is incredibly powerful. If you haven't been, do try ... The Vue Manchester is a toy in comparison. I haven't been to the Science Museum IMAX.

All IMAX cinemas are not the same as you say. Some of the Cineworld SuperScreens and ScreenX cinemas are better than a lot of IMAX screens. Never been to the BFI one, but it's on my list now, so thanks

Yes, I've done BFI IMAX, one of the IMAX cinemas (sorry, theaters) in Houston and one in Sydney.

Actually seeing the movie projected on IMAX film, and not a digital scan projection (like most screens in the country) is the way to go if possible... I will never forget seeing a short film shot in space on IMAX. Must have been made by NASA. The resolution and detail was like nothing I had ever seen.

The Last Voyage Of The Demeter
Uhhhh...this was pretty cool. Saw it last night in theater and the drive home had me selecting all kinds of creepy music to help keep the vibe going. And, I never really cared much for Dracula but to think that this is how he ended up in Europe is pretty cool.
And btw...it's from the same director that made the Norwegian film Trollhunter. Director André Øvredal.
