I don't remember it being quite so action packed! Looks promising though.

I do like a bit of Arthurian legend and The Green Knight certainly looks very well put together.
Mercifully, David Beckham is nowhere to be seen.

Oh, Jules, it was all going SO well. Right up until that American accent in fact. I was actually waiting for it because there " must be" an American in a British film if you want to make big bucks with it in the US, and I really thought I was going to make it to the end of the trailer without hearing one. But no. "You rest your bones, and I'll finish your quest for you," says the American. "Bugger," says I. To make it weird, I think it's Barry Keoghan uttering those lines, and he's a Dubliner by birth, and in 2020, was listed at number 27 on The Irish Times list of Ireland's greatest film actors. He has form for shite American accents though. Reading the write up on Rotten Tomatoes it seems like it's quite "cerebral," rather than being all clashing swords and gouts of blood from severed limbs (Tis but a scratch) which bodes well. Having said that, it's got an "R" rating in the States, so expect some violence, and perhaps just the odd severed limb now and again. Martin will like it, Alicia Vikander is in it, as Gawain's love interest. There are a couple of good short films here, one of them narrated by Ralph Ineson, who plays the Green Knight in the movie. You'll recognise his voice from countless other voiceovers. www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_green_knightRotten Tomatoes, reports an approval rating of 94% based on 35 reviews, with an average rating of 8.5/10. The site's critics consensus reads, "The Green Knight honours and deconstructs its source material in equal measure, producing an absorbing adventure that casts a fantastical spell." According to Metacritic, which assigned a weighted average score of 89 out of 100 based on 18 critics, the film received "universal acclaim". I sort of ended up down the rabbit hole on this one - a polite way of describing my ramblings, and not unusual for me when something piques my interest - so, sorry about that. I do rather fancy the film though, although its cinema release has been deferred due to COVID in the UK and it appears that none of the " usual suspects" streaming services has picked it up. The US opening goes ahead as planned this weekend though.

New Ridley Scott film 'The Last Duel'. I've become a bit of a Ridley Scott fan. Will look forward to see this.

Fantastic - really looking forward to that, would love to actually see it on a big screen.
Ridley really is the master of these historical epics.

Ridley Scott is the best film director alive.
Dennis Villeneuve is right behind him.

Similar to his 1977 film The Duellists?

The Duellists is one of my favourite films of all time.
I think The Last Duel looks a very different film conceptually but they could have come up with a more interesting title that didn't make us wonder.

Excellent, although the Times and Variety appear to have uninspired reviewers.
It matters not, no one's opinion is going to stop me from seeing this one.

Wow, Morpheus is played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II the lead actor from Candyman. He's brilliant. Will check this.
