That's the idea, Martin. Will do some weekend surfing.
Just found this. Which is interesting especially concerning his comments about capacitors. I know for a fact the big caps in mine are still in spec as Alan Firebottle checked them out recently.

Latest guy on the Accuphase monos not so impressed with Alan's work.
Hey, ho.
That said, I am not sure he is any better yet. The new guy is also a truck load more expensive. So such bold words aren't warranted until proven. What I don't like is he seems to think phone calls that stray way off topic are chargeable. IMHO that is just friendly hi-fi chit chat. I will make the point very clear to him.
Anyway a truck load of wall panelling arrived and I think I have a carpenter who can hack it. We will try and start the job after next week is done.

He's billing you for phone calls?
Is he an audio engineer or a lawyer??

Jason getting a bit too discontent there. Whatever. Truly great in its own way.
That said, chuck it in the fucking bin;)

Acupanel in and looking alright. If it makes zero sonic difference I am fine with that. I expect it might make some difference, though. The other end of the room is also panelled.

What's the theory with this panel Justin, what do you want to achieve?

I guess it's reflective rather than absorptive, and the ridges create dispersion.

I'm not sure it is really audiophile focused. I just love the look of it. It is probably aimed more at terraced or semi owners who want their neighbours to shut the fuck up.
Martin's description is about what I think might happen wiv de sound waves. How that manifests itself when having a good listen is another question, but that wasn't the primary goal.
If I wanted to damp the front wall more I would have made the carpenter build a frame, fill it full of something absorbative, then mount the panelling on top.
I am basically trying to lift the aesthetic appeal of the studio to meet the quality of the main house. I have two detached properties on one plot. I also want it to feel a bit warmer than bare white walls.
Still a long way to go till I am happy. Especially with how the hifi is presented. I will definitely NOT be using anything designed to mount hifi. Aesthetics are more important here.
Having spent quite a few bucks on hifi stands over the years the only dedicated hifi support I think that actually matters is what you put your turntable on.
But these days with the big screen and online services my vinyl listening is rare, if I am honest about it. That said, from time to time I really emotionally care about it. Like it is a built-in part of me I can never disconnect from.
Whatever, LOL.

Fitting it wall to wall in some rooms could be really challenging where walls aren't straight. You will need a carpenter to do that well.
Don't be fooled into thinking you can cut it with a handsaw. A fresh blade for a sizeable circular saw with a guide is what you need.

It's nice looking stuff. I'll keep that in mind for my next house and await your acoustic impressions with interest.

If anyone wants these sound panels made for me by Paul Coupe of RFC a few years ago they are free on collection near Weston-super-mare. IIRC he charged me £200. Still very presentable. PM me but you need to be quick i.e. within a week of this post.

Accuphase M-60s back from the mender. Issues, though. More on that laterz. Vastly superior to J. Rottens cover. All that stuff about destroying came from Iggy I think (Search and Destroy). Johnny just added the Anarchist bit. Proven really by John covering the song. Sounding fucking awesome 👍.

So I am impressed with this Acupanel stuff. With it in the sound is thicker bodied with improved overall balance and it just basically sounds more natural.
That's with dipoles, though, which fire backwards and forwards, so I would say the effect is probably more pronounced that it would be with conventional speakers.
The RFC traps had very little effect in this room. But in the room in post #1 they improved things quite a bit, which is curious. I think the sheer surface area being covered by the Acupanel probably accounts for this in this much bigger room.

Popped into AudioHanoi today. Amazing place really friendly staff. Some good gear, too. Pics below. Enjoy. The big system includes 4 Viva monos and a massive Viva horn speaker setup. Huge scale, effortless, easy on the ear, immense bass. Total cost gazillions I expect. Spent an hour or two listening to it. There are a few other hifi shops in Hanoi I might check into.
