No, it's just a seemless automatic transition.
Sorry, Kae Tempest is having Ketamine For Breakfast. My fave song of hers, though horse tranquilliser isn't my fave drug.
Then again I have never taken it. So what do I know?
Have fun this weekend. Enjoy Monday courtesy of HRH.

Yes, I know how it works but theoretically it moves from Class A to Class B once it is dumping current above the quiescent level, which, in this case, is of course very high.

I haven't had a look at the spec for a few years but by all means look it up.
IIRC it does 100-120 Watts class A into 4 Ohms. After that, it goes into class A/B.
So usually, as a guesstimate of perceived sound levels relative to Accuphase power meter reports (subjective comparison only), I reckon for a very large amount of time during say, a 5 minute track, the Luxman is dumping 200 to 300 Watts peak power at my usual, and I guess higher than most people listen to, levels.
I passed it by Alan (Firebottle) in conversation in real life a while ago. Imagine a class A level amp delivering a fixed amount of heat regardless of music levels. Then add a lot more class A/B delivery on top of that. That's what's happening here.
The Luxman couldn't basically give a fuck. It just gets hotter. Unfortunately, with Alan changing the Accuphase bias to on specification, they really do give a fuck. He has another repair job in hand, and I think, regrettably, I must let them go.
Amps are mad, though. My 211 monos, which I still have, never got worried about long term high listening levels. Designed to run hot. Very, very hot. And they do and have done it for many years, without issue.
In this room, though, more power delivery than the 211s can muster is required. In a 17 by 11 room, no. But here, definitely yes.

A new hobby that I am really enjoying.
Search YouTube for covers of your fave songs.
You'll be surprised if you do it for long enough. From awful to considerably better than the originals.
I realise I am lucky with a 100 inch screen to enjoy such things, which does amplify the experience. And the supporting system isn't too bad, either. But seriously try it if you haven't. There is some surprisingly good shit out there.
That said, copying is always a bit sad in the sense that it isn't original. But there's so much copying in the real world it isn't worth getting upset about.

There are other versions of songs that have their own merit and some that are even better Some fall into the "what were the thinking" category of course
I love investigating remixes by the same artist or others as well
Camper Van Beethoven do a great version of Interstellar Overdrive

I was just saying yesterday that Eva Cassidy's cover of Songbird eclipses even Christine McVie's own, only to hear last night that McVie sadly passed away. I meant no disrespect as McVie's songwriting skills were superb.
That's two great singers gone from us.

I was seriously into psychedelics from the age of 15 to 22. Whenever I listened to any sort of music I always felt very removed from it. Like I was hearing something that was literally pointless. The creation of people locked into limited personal worlds and experiences that made no sense in the greater scheme of things. I love music. But when viewed and heard from a state of egolessness it seemed to mean almost nothing. Very curious and I will never forget and always appreciate that genuinely interesting and definitely explorative stage of my life. I am very tempted to return to it in my last few years, but I am not quite there yet;) Well, as far as I know.

At the time when I was dumping loads of mind altering stuff, this was deemed psychedelic.
A fave of John Peel. And rightly so. But shit have a listen to that guitar player on the album. Top shit. Seriously. Unless, of course, you are tripping on higher echelon gear.

Pleasantly trippy, but it doesn't take me somewhere else the way that Hawkwind does, enhancements not required.

I don't think psychedelics ultimately offer any real enhancements. They do offer a different state of mind for a few hours. And definitely the artificial ones try and extend that for way too long.
Whatever. Nature is beautiful and when in the best available locations on natural psychedelics I think they just say hey, yeah, this is what it is. In other words, amazing and as onlookers we should definitely pay some respect and attention to that fact.
I guess I am quite broad minded and more adventurous than most. Though I am not saying that is an advantage. But I will say my perception of colour was permanently and irreversibly altered by psychedelics for the better. Especially when taken in the best natural surroundings.

This works on the big screen. Flea and John never cease to amaze me. Ant increasingly looks like Adolf Hitler.
Great quality video and audio. Lots of tracks I never got involved with, but quite a few I love.
Reasonably in sync and convincingly real, when so many YT videos show proof of miming.
If you have some cash how about one of Flea's houses? I reckon any real buyer must wear a long skirt.

Post #223 above refers to my Accuphase monos needing a fix (again) due to overdriving. The trouble is Friday nights when I want to listen loud for up to 4 hours at a time. There's a thermal cutout on the M-60s that usually saves them. But not the last time. The thing about the Accuphase monos is they just don't clip, they just overheat as a way of complaining. They basically drive my speakers to maximum volume capability without sonic degradation, but in doing so are putting out 450-500 Watt peaks. The Luxman M-800U does clip, but sounds great up to that point, which is only mildly below max speaker output. So, they are at the mender's at the moment. But I noticed that the M-60s have a provision for fans when looking at the link below the other day. www.accuphase.co.jp/cat/m-60.pdfSo the plan is to fit a fan on each one, with a digital display I can use to turn them on when the heat sinks reach a certain temperature. So quiet in normal use, and fans on when they get hot and there's no chance of hearing the fan noise. Pics show them at the mender's about to get this mod, if we can find the right parts that will actually fit. Any help here appreciated. The back panels have removable plates for the fan installation. Cool. Pun intended;)

Crazy amps really. From 1975. Epic spec. Contrary to what hi-fi mags would have you believe, physics doesn't change and these amplifiers are a testimony to that. TBH the current Accuphase line up and for many previous years doesn't contain anything that can manage this kind of power output. My current plan is to keep these suckers going for a decade or two more. Unless I change my mind;)

You might be able to find a thermistor or temperature controller (AliExpress?) that'll do the job automatically.
