Without any logic !
A week is about it for most fruit and veg
We use 5-6 Brocolli head a week. If I get 10 it is most likely we will bin 2-3 of them at least. Plus they don't taste so good.
Raspberries unlikely to last a week, strawberries at a push

Well, that's saved me some f*cking money. Two emails from Sainsburys... After 30 minutes of hanging on, waiting for the help-line to pick up the guy I eventually spoke to rang the store from which the delivery was supposed to be coming (which is classed as a "Superstore" by the way, it's a big bugger) and when he got back to me the he said the actual reason for cancelling my order was because the store "didn't have enough stock to make it worthwhile delivering" to me. There are no free delivery slots for at least the next 3 weeks.
To say I'm effin' pissed off doesn't even come close.

Er, I don't think it will be an isolated occasion and surely the situation has the potential to get a lot worse. Supermarkets may be struggling to get their usual levels of imports from Europe and beyond.
We've stopped trying to do online orders as there are those who are less mobile and need them more than we do. Only thing to do is a very occasional supermarket trip to see what they have, otherwise we will be doing much smaller shops from a variety of local stores.

Generally the supermarkets etc here in Germany seem reasonably well stocked, except for toilet paper of course. We went out for a walk down to the new supermarket and drugstore by the film studios this afternoon and found that both stores now have tape marks on the floor to help people maintain a distance of 1.5 m. It was the same in Aldi and Netto nearer us. We also went to a pharmacy to pick up some herbal tea we had ordered yesterday and only two people at a time are allowed to enter and there was a small queue, spaced at 2 m intervals, outside: that struck us as quite sensible. The people behind the counter had perspex screens between them and the customer to stop transfer of sputum, again a good idea.
It seems that in and around Berlin people are following advice and are being sensible. However, a number of cities in the South have had a curfew imposed, partly driven by groups of young people gathering in parks and having barbecues!

I'm surprised our chemists aren't doing anything similar. In our local some of the staff were wearing masks and that's it, no other measures taken. People standing way too close for comfort next to each other.
Cafes doing surprisingly good business - people working on laptops etc Very surprising but I just think some people really aren't fussed ..

I collected my meds at my pharmacy yesterday. Only two people in the store at a time with green tape on the floor marking the nearest approach. Everyone was being good about it with the antics of some people trying to reach their meds or pay by card (no cash payments) quite amusing.

I wouldn't say well-stocked, Tom, but we could survive on freezer and tinned goods for a couple of weeks.

Very glad to see supermarkets setting limits on what you can buy now, not that there's much on the shelves now anyway!!

I've a delivery order building for 4th April with Morrisons. Fingers crossed it will happen - not essential as we saw this coming a month or more ago and stocked up a fair bit then [no shelves were emptied!] as MrsJ has some health issues and we're self isolating, just keeping things a bit topped up.

Fingers crossed: I've just grabbed an online shop between 8:30 and 9:30 tomorrow morning that suddenly appeared at Sainsbury's. I've overspent on the premise that I'll be lucky to see 50% of what I've actually ordered.

Just shows how nano-thin the veneer of British civilized behaviour really is. 1 billion's worth of extra food in people's cupboards, fridges & freezers... And still they're acting like idiots.
Last Monday the local Asda was out of multi-packs of toilet rolls. Luckily, there was my normal 4-pack of "Shades", so I got one. All the pasta had gone.
On the Friday ALL the bog roll had gone as long with the pasta again, oils? and meat. But, pretty much everything else was available.
This Monday pretty much the same. Thursday - practically cleaned out apart from some cereal, ice cream, jams, some tinned stuff. No veg. There was a limit of 3 for anything you got.
Tuesday a small Tesco a few miles away shut at 2 as it was cleaned out. Wednesday, a big Tesco near where I work, the car park was full and it was packed. An Aldi also near work was stripped. Friday, one I work with said his mate was getting 4 bananas at Aldi and when he got to the till he was asked to put 2 back!
Somewhere 2 old biddies were fighting over a loaf of bread. One had it in her basket and the other took it out. One supermarket some old bloke got knocked down by the rush of trollies when the doors were opened. Muslim workers in an Iceland were getting aggressive with a Seik bloke and took the single toilet roll he had off him. It all just goes to show how selfish people really are, and how society has changed.
No work and no pay for 4 weeks. I imagine that is just the start. Well, it's going to be some time before people will be venturing out looking to buy a caravan. The job centres are closed, so I suppose that's something.

They do advise that you "check back" so I've been doing that and obviously I struck lucky.

It seems that every society is indeed three rolls away from chaos!
