The track is fine, well ok, up to a point
Problem was MM insisted Rod be sidelined and JB be vocalist

Jeff is a great musician, and as a guitarist I appreciate his technique. I've got a shed-load of his albums and I like them, (can you sense the "but" coming?) but, sometimes, just sometimes, I find him to be a bit of a one-trick-pony. It's a bloody good trick, mind you, but I suppose just disproves the old saying, and you actually can have too much of a good thing. Thought a while before answering. Old brain cranking up. Listened to various JB albums today and I have to disagree. Yes, he does use that tremolo arm a lot. I confess. He plays a range and can go from in your face to soothing almost ambient. Plenty inbetween too One of his unique qualities, or very close to unique is his timing, the way he uses space between the notes. I'm playing all hs albums in order and enjoying my 'chores' Not only that I am now also playing the same albums again on the kitchen system. So far I'm enjoying it

Wired 1976
Great album. Not only George Martin producing but Jan Hammer also playing. Can't really go wrong.
An album you should own, not quite as good as the essential Blow by Blow, not far off though

Blow by Blow 1975 Might be his best album. You have to play it if you have never heard it George Martin Producing and influencing. Steve Wonder involved too Still love it after 100s of plays Keep coming back to it Hehe, tried it 'beck' in the day.. Had to skip through it on Spotify now.. gad make it stop.. Takes all sorts Mike

I'm surprised Steve No female vocal ?

I'm not greatly keen on Blow by Blow, either. It's not a patch on Who Else! or You Had it Coming, admittedly much later and better developed into his own style.

I'm surprised Steve No female vocal ? Actually, any vocal with great lyrics would do! To be fair, of my 15 core albums, only one is a female only vocal Track wise, it's more 50/50 though.

For me, the first two albums are superb. The third is OK. After that, I'm not keen at all until we hit Guitar Shop and everything after.

Different styles as he works out what he wants to do Settled on what he wants to do now over the last few albums Jeff Beck with the Jan Hammer Group, live, shows the fun he had with Jan Hammer and the input from him and how Mahavishnu Orchestra got right into his head Worthwhile album. Set the volume loud and play to an unsuspecting audience for the first notes of the car horn replica I'd certainly buy it again if I was starting from scratch

There and back 1980
Superb album. You must play it if you haven't before. Nudging essential, probably is
Jan Hammer and Tony Hyams helping out, Simon Phillips on drums for most tracks

Flash 1985
An unusual album for JB. Nile Rodgers, yes him, helping out. Successful commercially. Worth a listen. Be prepared to skip a track or two. Rod guests on one track People get ready
from Wikipedia Despite its success, he has since expressed his disdain for the album, calling it a "record company goof" and "a very sad sort of time" for him

Guitar Shop 1989 with Terry Bozzio and Tony Hymas
Another change in direction. Well worth having. Not the very best of this new direction IMO. Still one I have to have. More music revealed nicely on a good system.

Frankie's House 1992 Film soundtrack collaboration with Jed Leiber.
Rarely mentioned but well worth having. Different to other albums as some tracks are very short, for the film I'm sure

Crazy Legs 1993 Jeff Beck and the Big Town Playboys
JB not going according to the expected plan with Gene Vincent songs
Not for me. This is BB, before Beatles, music I heard as a young kid and never made any mark. Lightweight at best for me. If you like Gene Vincent covers it's for you. Otherwise play a few seconds of the first track and that may be all you need.

Play Space for the papa as loud as you can and let it roll into Angel (footsteps)
