Yes, he made the comment during the session in 1966 that Beck's Bolero was recorded in. The band he was referring to included Moon, John Paul Jones, Page, Nicky Hopkins and Beck. This was a couple of years before the first Beck group album, and Page apparently remembered it a couple of years later at the end of The Yardbirds / New Yardbirds.

I'm working from memory from almost that many years ago, 53. How can that be possible....

JB is an infinitely more interesting player than EC! Simples! And I'm a fan of EC, I think he plays guitar superbly, writes some great songs, and has a good singing voice, but he doesn't really take any chances. Beck goes wherever the muse takes him.

Quite. He takes chances and doesn't always hit the mark. Success far outweighs failure though and stunning music

I never really got EC to be honest give me Freddie King instead It just goes to show how personal this is JB is a phenomal guitarist As Paul (Slinger) mentions it is his control of every note that makes him stand out

This is a great video of Jeff "demonstrating" A Day In The Life. You can see quite a bit of his right-hand technique in this one...

1971 Rough and Ready 1972 Jeff Beck Group Always loved Rough and Ready for the wonderful driving drumming, great bass too. Not disappointed. Love it Self titled Jeff Beck Group was a nice surprise as I had previously thought it so so. Not now. Revealed to be much as Rough and Ready, perhaps a notch down Two great albums from *that* Jeff Beck Group era Give them a go One thing wrong with both albums... Too short !

Jeff is a great musician, and as a guitarist I appreciate his technique. I've got a shed-load of his albums and I like them, (can you sense the "but" coming?) but, sometimes, just sometimes, I find him to be a bit of a one-trick-pony. It's a bloody good trick, mind you, but I suppose just disproves the old saying, and you actually can have too much of a good thing.

Beck or Clapton ? I'll take both please. Exactly what I said many years ago to Hendrix or Clapton ? Neither thanks , never been into guitar bluesy music , I'm flabbergasted at the amount of albums that you listed Mike in the OP I had no idea he'd done so much stuff. My knowledge of JB - Hi Ho Silver Lining

Not sure I would describe JB guitar style as Bluesy. It can also go Jazz Fusion, Rockabilly, Eastern and Hip hop.

1973 Beck, Bogert & Appice
I had high expectations of this when I first bought it. A supergroup for sure.
Disappointment. Only just worth keeping You can play it if you have the time see if you agree with me or not

Blow by Blow 1975
Might be his best album. You have to play it if you have never heard it George Martin Producing and influencing. Steve Wonder involved too
Still love it after 100s of plays Keep coming back to it
