This is a bit of a silly argument really. Clearly someone whose priority was music rather than hifi would spend more of their money on music (live or recorded) than on expensive boxes to play it on, and they wouldn't spend lots of time on forums dedicated to discussing those boxes. Trouble is, that thinking goes tits up if you've got a file-based audio system, with so many gigabytes of stored music that's cost you fook all.Marco. Enquiring minds need to know where file based music can be downloaded for naff all legally, especially this one...
Music is music however it happens to be delivered to your lugholes therefore to criticise a persons chosen listening format is just a tad crass. It'd be a bit like me saying: "I can't be done with stoking up the boilers for half an hour just to listen to a bit of Yes (jeez, their music is long winded enough already )"
I can listen to music on a variety of formats here; vinyl, CD, cassette, MD, radio and of course, my music files. It's the latter which see's the most action simply because to my ears (and the highlighted words are very important) it is the better sounding format.

Ride to work is one if you are an employee of the company If you are a Director you just buy it on the company Vat - off Tax Relief on the rest I got a £1500+ bike, last season so nearly 30% off anyway, down to £1100 Less the Vat £916 ish Less the tax relief, fill in your own My accountant put me onto it when I asked about Ride to work, and he is straight BTW ! Yes I am a director and VAT registered. £1,500 doesn't seem much for a bike ? What is ride to work ? Thanks Dave (BTW any thread drift from SLIC is a good thing, isn't it ??) Pay as much as you like, or not. I traded up from my mid 80s Holdsworth - big jump Lots of the price can be in the components and when you come to replace them it comes as a nasty surprise. The tyres are quite SLIC

I raced my pre60 Tri-BSA in Holland last year, and a friend who also went buys up old Dutch cycles and sells them on return to the UK. He says the profits almost pay for the ferry.
Anyway, one night (at a campsite near Arnhem) a group of us test rode these old bikes round the site and were pleasantly surprised how easy to ride they were.

I was thinking more of a Harley Fat Boy ? where the VAT and tax savings would be quite big ?

That reminds me of a confusing episode of Frasier [ for me ] as I confused segue with Segway . It wasn't until Niles rode one that I realised that's what they were called .

Or a Segway, anyone here tried one ? Well considering Chris works on the rigs, he might struggle to get to work on a Segueway!

I was talking about free music downloads, mate. Plenty of guys I know with FBA systems are members of 'privileged' download sites, and can amass thousands of stored music titles on their hard drives(s), for either fook all, or next to fook all... Whereas, silly old me is paying upwards of £15 for new albums (and often much more for 'audiophile releases') on vinyl records - and I have THOUSANDS of the buggers! Marco.

Indeed, Gary. Now, add up the value of your physical music collection and compare it with the cost of your system, in order to ascertain your true 'music lover status' Marco.

Sorry, Marco but that theory just doesn't work. Someone with a thousand albums played through a 50 quid system bought from an advert in the pages of the Radio Times loves music more that another person with the same number of albums and a 10,000 quid system? Not necessarily so! In fact, I'd say almost certainly not.

I don't feel the need to advertise, or discuss my " STATUS " with regard to my music collection.
Sounds like a bit of willy waving to me.

However, whilst not a fact, I'd still say that if the cost of your hi-fi system grossly outweighs the value of your music collection, it's a reasonable assumption for one to make that your passion for owning hi-fi equipment exceeds that of your passion for music. Factor in too, as John mentioned earlier (and is most relevant in Tim's case), how many times a year you attend live music performances, of one form or another, and I don't think it's difficult to ascertain where most people's 'heads are at', as it were.... Marco.
