We had a bottle of Barefoot Californian Merlot in the weekend. Awful, with no redeeming features. Gold medal winner, what bollox. You must have upset someone for them to have given you that nasty chemical sugar water . . . . unless you bought it of course  |

Beavertown Lupuloid IPA 6.7%
Pours really well.
The first taste explodes in the mouth, very hoppy with strong grapefruit overtones that last to the end and mellow out the more you sup.
The solid foamy rings clinging to the glass (lacing) with every swallow were a great sign as they indicate a well brewed beer (and that my glass was absolutely clean).
Thoroughly enjoyable (and powerful) IPA.

My personal recommendation is before you even consider adulterating it, and that includes with ice, pretend it's a single malt and try a goodly-sized measure in a whisky tumbler.

Rich and opulent tasting with beautifully sweet raisin, caramel and orange notes. Good length on the finish. Without doubt the best value rum I have bought, £40 is a fair price but a steal at the £33 that I paid.

Forgotten Casks is far superior to any of the Barbados rums I have tasted but maybe I was just lucky to hit on a particularly good example. It's not about location, it's all in the implementation don't you know!  |
