Porch thieves are being reported in our area!
On top of that Royal Mail are taking 3 weeks or more to delivery letters as they're prioritising parcels.
Let the choas begin for people not paying bills etc

I think I may have a problem with a parcel being delivered (I hope) by Royal Mail. It arrived at " Medway MC and will now be sent to your local delivery office." on Tuesday ...and Wednesday ...and again Today. I've just checked back, and apparently "Y our Item was received by Sevenoaks DO on 07-12-2023 and is now due for delivery today." and that was timed at 14:09. It's now 19:30. Either my postie has got VERY short legs, or they're fibbing, and it ain't coming today. Oh dear. Your Item was received by Sevenoaks DO on 08-12-2023 and is now due for delivery today.

Effin' Brilliant The postman has just turned up and asked if I could take a parcel for a neighbour. "No problem," says I. On looking at the address label it's actually the parcel I was expecting for but for some unknown reason my house number had been written over in Biro and replaced with my neighbour's house number. FFS. I'm expecting another one from Royal Mail tomorrow. I wonder where it will go, and when it will get there?

I was 'carded' by APC but I've got home and no card. Good grief, is there anyone but total fuckwits running courier companies these days? Without the number on the card, I can't even organise collection at the depot. EDIT: luckily, my browser (good for Edge) remembered my consignment number. Will collect tomorrow from the depot: 27 miles, 40 mins away

The most reliable carrier I've had delivering to me lately is Evri which is, let's be honest, quite frightening.
I'm sure the alphabet city of couriers, RM, DHL, APC, DPD, UPS, etc. will very shortly be blaming the "Increased volume of mail due to the Christmas Season" which seems to take them by surprise every year.

I had to laugh at APC's customer collection point. It's round the back, past where the path runs out. There is no sign, just a buzzer to request entry. Upon entry, I stepped into a small white room, just larger than a large cupboard, with a window at the end. The room is totally bare with not even a sign on the wall. It's about as welcoming as a gas chamber.

I started wring a real Dave Brook yesterday but the new PC (lol) swallowed it. So a very abridged version: I purchesed a rare probe for the scope from the USA, seller deosn't want me to arrange my own collection send via USPS (a serious shower of dog doo-doo at best) the only worse service in the UK (well joint are Herpes/Veri or whatever thy call themselves this week, Yodel) and ther grand cock wombles of the century PARVEl FARCE. Bottom line is this, dispite having ALL of the information for the import and customs charges, no contact for 3weeks, I ve chased (they do on purpise make contacting them very difficult) asking the same information that was all ready suppiled on the commerical invoice (twice) they do this via snail mail. Getting to point of using tazers on staff now, so Thursday I called HMRC direct and asked why it wasn;t released yet? This is the genuoine reply I recieved back by phone (which I recorded) Arh Yes Parcel Force, your import was cleared on 20th of Novemeber when it landed here in the UK WHAT? ?? Oh yes sir, its been cleared by ourselves, PF lie and deliberately mislead you (the public) to GAIN them more time to clear the HUGE back log they have, also the staff are paid peanuts and they are quite often on strike as well, Have you tried finding a phone number to call. I'm having an issue with that I say, no problem here is a direct line top thnere clearence department. Oh by the way DON'T TAKE NO for an answer. Tell you them you have spoken to your customs agent. good luck sir. I call PF and was greeted quite quickly by a nice lady who was trying to be helpful, but it soion turned to stone walling and every exscue was thrown up the last one being with I know you wish to pay sir, but until it is cleared by our high value team I can't release it. What ever you do please do not use Parcel Farce for any importation from outside the UK. Weare looking into legal proceedings against them now, no more shite

I would never knowingly use Parcelfarce, they have been shocking for years.
The problem arises when I order from abroad (quite often) and the foreign shippers hand off in the UK to PF. I have no control over it and my heart sinks when the local delivery shippers turn out to be PF.
I ordered from Ireland recently and they handed off to Evri. I asked them not to but it was too late. And yes, it got lost and was 'found' a week later.

So my 2" diameter brass bar, ordered on the 27/10 that didn't arrive within reasonable time, and the 2nd second out the seller made (1st class) on the 15/11, both arrived within days of each other, the most late one driving today!🙄
I had given up on those and ordered again from what I thought was another supplier (was same though under another trading name🙇♂️), that did arrive on time!
This is without doubt the most delayed, and not lost, thing Royal Mail has delivered to me (that I know of)🙂
Better late than never!
I now have 2 spare brass bars in stock.. will get used eventually.

So my new dac off eBay was posted yesterday via Royal Mail 24 (which is labelled ‘Priority’ on their website).
Checked tracking tonight as it was a no show today and tracking says it should be delivered on Tuesday but it’s not guaranteed.
I had asked the seller if he could post Special Delivery and I’d pay the £3.50 difference but he declined saying RM24 is just as good, I said I wasn’t so sure about that………. How right was I lol

Royal Mail Tracked 24 and 48 have "aims" not promises. Tracked 48, for instance, states that RM "Aims to deliver within 2-3 days with online tracking", so the number "48" in "Tracked 48" actually means bugger-all. Tracked 24 is advertised as "We aim to deliver Royal Mail Tracked 24 the next working day". Again, we "aim" to... It's a con really.

I'd read about Amazon jumping into the delivery business, but this is the first time I've seen it, the turnaround is decent, but I'm not overly impressed with their tracking.
December 9 12:05 pm Package has left the seller's premises and is on the way to the carrier
3:39 pm Package arrived at an Amazon facility. - Dunstable, East of England, GB
10:06 pm Package left an Amazon facility. - Dunstable, East of England, GB
December 10 12:05 am Package arrived at the final delivery station. - Grays, GB
8:59 am Package is out for delivery. - Grays, GB On a Sunday? I seriously doubt it
2:10 pm First delivery attempt. - Grays, GB I was in all day, and why wasn't there one of those "We tried to deliver..." cards left?
8:23 pm Package arrived at the final delivery station. - Grays, GB ...aaaaand, we're back in Grays, never having left Grays is my bet.
December 11 11:01 am Package is out for delivery. - Grays, GB This time I believe them, as today was the delivery date originally quoted by Zousz, the actual vendor.

Amazon came up as an option when I was trying to find a way to send my 33kg power amp to Manchester, they were a good bit more expensive than the company I eventually went with, Amp on a Micro Pallet, total weight approx 40kg - £84, picked it up from here afternoon one day and it was delivered before 12 noon next day.
Amp then went in a container to Spain, that part took 15 days from the time it was booked into the container as they only send it filled.
Arrived in Valencia exactly as it left here.
PalletOnline took care of the Manchester journey, no idea about the Spanish trip, the buyer organised that part, so the risk for that was all his.
I'd definitely use PalletOnline for heavy items again.

I've got a new one for the list - EDX Secure. I had a parcel from Specsavers today, containing two new pairs of glasses. Around 11:30 the Entryphone buzzer sounded, and by the time I got downstairs to answer it I was greeted by a "live" handset, but nobody on the other end of it. It happens, and I thought no more about it as, to the best of my knowledge, I wasn't actually expecting anyone or anything today. I specifically asked Specsavers to post or courier my new specs to me (and paid for the privilege, obviously) and verified that they had my email address so they could send the tracking info to me. As I explained to them, it's handy to know when things are arriving, because some couriers just " dump stuff outside my building, in the rain". Those were my exact words. Around 15:00 one of my neighbours rang my front doorbell and handed me a parcel, from Specsavers, that had been dumped " outside my building, in the rain". EDX Secure have system on their website for contacting them that actually appears to work, so I've just messaged them. Oh, and Specsavers never emailed the tracking info to me either. Fortunately the tracking number was the same as the barcode on the package, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to check the tracking to see that, according to the courier, my parcel had been " received", by me.
