I'll tell what I'm *not drinking right now* and that is sparkling water. The shelves are always empty in the supermarkets and I read that this is due to the 'heatwave'.
Really?? I don't remember what I consider a heatwave in London but apparently it is defined as a period of hot weather lasting 3 days or more. What a joke - my memories of heatwaves are from when you would have stifling hot days for weeks on end.
I can't believe that the manufacturers can't manage supply for the pathetically short periods of hot weather we get in summer here. Are they managed by ex-employees of British Rail or something?

McDonalds have run out of milkshakes and bottled drinks. Nando's had to close 50 outlets because they couldn't get chicken. " Supply chain issues" is the anodyne reaction to be found in the MSM. It's bugger-all to do with the weather.

I always think the water that comes out of the tap looks pretty sparkly. Shame it doesn't work with rings though!

I had a (very) late lunch today, and tried something *new* with my crumpets. A smear of this... And what was, probably, technically, rather too much of this. Having said that I'm convinced that my lunch proved that there is no such thinhg as " too much," of it. For once, the description "luxurious," is not just hyperbole. It's a " delicious traditional French whipped cream cheese seasoned with a hint of sea salt from the Guérande estuary in France." Rather like myself, it really is simple, and delicious. There's also a Garlic & Herb variaton which is already on next week's grocery delivery order. Even better, it's currently on sale at £1.50 from Sainsbury's; two quid elsewhere. Seriously recommended by a dedicated cheese-lover. Moi.

LOL! I was just enjoying some Pie D'Angloys last night, remembering that you had introduced me to it.

LOL! I was just enjoying some Pie D'Angloys last night, remembering that you had introduced me to it. I've got a Pie D'Angloys in the fridge too. It's brilliant on toast, crumpets, muffins etc. if you give it 20 - 30 seconds in the microwave to " melt" it a bit. Too long though, and it almost liquifies, so be careful. You need to watch it, and when it just starts losing its shape it's ready.

In 10 minutes it will be Okonomiyaki made with Gram flour though and with Haloumi rather than seafood or meat.

They look rather delicious, and quite simple, Pete. I've just bookmarked a basic recipe.

Not eating, but drinking. I've rediscovered the delights of hot chocolate. Sainsbury's currently have Green & Black's Organic Hot Chocolate on offer (£2.00 instead of £3.60) and just to make myself feel healthier, Alpro drinks are also on offer at £1.25, so I've just made this mugful with Cashew "milk."

Toasted sourdough, smothered in cream cheese and chives, thinly sliced cucumber and tomato, (lots of) smoked salmon, and topped with scrambled duck eggs. It'll be exactly the same tomorrw as well.

I had the second half of a lazy dinner tonight. I lined the bottom of a large casserole dish with 8 rashers of very nice middle-back bacon, which is probably my favourite cut, and then chucked the makings of a cauliflower cheese on top and slapped it in the oven until the top was nicely browned. All I had to do tonight was reheat the half that was left.

Two easy peelers, a banana, and a pear. Supper is done.
I always forget how much I like pears until I bite into one.

I had some Milano salami and wholegrain mustard between two slices of Hovis Granary last night. It's all I needed.
