I've got a new"beer" to try this weekend. It occurred to me that I hadn't checked Amazon out for zero/low alcohol booze, so I did. As well as being able to get Beck's Blue in cans (so much easier to recycle) I found this stuff and I've bought a case of twelve on spec. I just hope it's not completely disgusting.

Well. That Idea fekkin' crashed and burned. Mister Amazon wouldn't believe I was over 18 and refused to take my Trades Union membership card as proof of age. I even showed him my Covid vaccination card in desperation, but he just kept parroting " No card, no parcel," until I shut the door on him. I have no passport, and I don't drive. I am a non-person. I cancelled the order and await my refund. To sum up, the company that insist I must be over 18 to join their Prime service would not deliver alcohol-free beer to me because I might be too young to buy alcohol. Threre is no way I could be mistaken for a 17-year-old. I was looking forward to that bloody stout too.

I finally cooked up my doner kebab meat today. It's a complete success. The flavour is spot-on, the texture is slightly more tender than kebab meat from a proper kebab shop, and the combo of the two sauces I bought works really well. Unfortunately I used soft pittas, when the " originals" would probably have made for a better experience. There's probably enough left for another two meals. That's the downside of cooking for one. The (organic) lamb mince cost me just under a tenner, the spice mix £2.99 The pitta was a quid. Salad and sauce extra, obviously, but all told it was dead simple to make and very nice to eat, so worth every penny. If anyone's interested... smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00B2JD6Z4

Nice - I'll give that a go. I still have a tub of doner spice I bought in the spice bazaar in Istanbul the last time I was there.

I had a vegetarian 'Wellington' today with mushrooms and cheese - was heavenly!
As was the lemon, raspberry and pistachio cake ...

Far too much (not that there actually is such a thing) Mortadella with a hunk of "spanish omelette," which was actually just an eggy omelette with potato and fried onion served cold, and a dollop of Hellmann's new coleslaw, which was rather nice; very creamy.
Strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries for dessert.

Not so much eating, as drinking. Good Earth Ginger, Turmeric, and Lemon tea. I got it as a freebie and with a dollop of honey as a sweetener it's not actually revolting. Being honet for once, it's actually quite nice. I have, recenrtly, discoveresd some half-decent mass-produced bread. It's Allinson's Batch Baked Scandalous Seeds Wholemeal and it's nice toasted, or just with butter. It goes well with the Meridian Crunchy Peanut that's currently half-price at Sainsbury's.

Ever heard of Matcha green tea, Paul? It contains an antioxidant called a catechin, specifically epigallocatechin gallat in this case (EGCG) which triggers a hormone called cholecystokinin (CCK) which the body releases when food contacts the upper large intestine...Possible health benefits...
"...it contains antioxidants that help boost levels of cholecystokinin (CCK), a hunger-suppressing hormone that also stimulates the digestion of fat and protein. Drinking matcha green tea daily curbs the appetite, promotes weight loss, improves immune function, and increases energy."
I drink a boat load of it, including right now. It's nearly as thick as soup.

I did a quick bit of research after reading your post and I've just ordered 40g of Matcha powder (Ceremonisl grade, and from Japan, not China like a lot of it is apparently) a matcha bowl (Chawan) to drink it from, and an electric whisk, and a 1g measure.

Wooah. Fancy guy, huh? I'm glad to hear this. And a bit jealous. I've read the stuff from Japan is the only way to go. Mine is a powder ordered from Amazon, though I don't believe it's from Japan. Will check again.
Would you mind at some point leaving your impression of the high grade stuff here somewhere on the forum?

This is the one I ordered, it's not very expensive, and (as I've just discovered) even cheaper to order direct rather than go via Amazon which I did. spring-blossom.co.uk/products/organic-ceremonial-japanese-matcha-tea-tin?variant=31930986922030
