I made a lovely omelette with crispy bacon and a touch of mint earlier. Nice with some salad.

I tried an experiment tonight, and it was deliciously successful. I made a stir-fry using my usual Sainsbury's mixed pepper stir fry veg, and added some sliced chestnut mushrooms, and sliced courgette. The experiment was to use diced Chorizo as a base, and I also bunged in a tub of Uncle Ben's Soy, Sesame, and Ginger stir-in sauce to finish it off. The Chorizo blended in perfectly, and I've got enough for tomorrow too. If you enjoy a stir fry I can now definitely recommend using diced Chorizo as a base.

Nice. I like making omelettes with chorizo or salami pieces as well as the more usual bacon and they all come out tasting good.

Today I rediscovered the beauty that is the egg mayonnaise and Marmite sandwich. That is all.

Somebody said to me yesterday "that's a bit Bovril" talking about a love/hate thing.

Somebody said to me yesterday "that's a bit Bovril" talking about a love/hate thing. That must be the non-vegan option. N.B. Egg mayo and Marmite is rather good on toasted cheese and black pepper muffins too. There was a lot of egg mayo to use up.

I used to work for someone who always got his words wrong. We used to struggle to keep a straight face. Two of them were he had a "cockerel spanner" dog and arranged to meet "where the roads divulge".

Malapropisms (from Sheridan's Mrs Malaprop, in The Rivals) can be hilarious. I don't know why people get the simplest words wrong though, it's not exactly rocket fuel, is it? I was reading an article fairly recently, I'm sure, that stimulated some recent exemplars. I must try to receive it from the depths of my mammary.

It must be time to revive this thread. I pressed the slow-cooker into service yesterday evening, and overnight it turned out my cross between a sausage casserole and a cassoulet. I used Jolly Hog pork & caramelised onion sausages, smoked cubetti di pancetta lardons and a thickly sliced chorizo ring for the "meat" and based the "juice" on a mixture of chicken stock and chopped tomatoes. Onions, garlic, mushrooms, a mixture of herbs, and some cannellini beans all got chucked in the pot. I was going to use the more traditional haricot beans, but I thought that they might disintegrate completely during 8 hours in the slow cooker. It smells delicious, and the little "taster" I allowed myself was delicious too. I shall be sampling it properly tonight, with some warm French bread. If I'm not around tomorrow, you know why.

I've been using a slow cooker recently too - with mixed results!!
Did nice ribs in it,beautiful n tender and a nice curry too. She's done a few soups that also work well. Ours cost £5 so it's been a good buy!
The downside I've found is too much liquid in a few things but I'll get the hang of avoiding that.

I love the slow cooker. Chuck stuff at it, walk away for 6 - 8 hours. Eat. Simples. My next project will be a gammon joint with balsamic and Dijon mustard with honey glaze.

Slow cookers are great but ours seems to cook spuds at a lower temperature than everything else in the pot with them.

We've got making a stroganoff in a slow cooker off to a tee. Yummy, and the meat melts in your mouth after the slow-and-long treatment.

Tonight, I shall mostly be eating a Classic Crust Veggie Delight Pizza with hand stretched base topped with sun-dried tomato sauce, mozzarella and Cheddar cheese, red and green peppers, sweetcorn, mushroom, red onion and sun-dried tomatoes. There will be extra cheese and extra red pepper.

Possibly not every-bodies cup of tea, but I love a big bowl a Ramen.
It was delicious too
