Ah well, a toaster it is then - I like the looks even if it is a toaster. Does it crumpets? Muffins?

After a week and a half or so of enjoying the Topping D70 DAC and Emotiva PT-100 preamp a sudden craving to get the Lexicon DC-1 back into the system came over me.
Dang. It's really very seldom that going back to previous gear works out well, but it seems to have happened here. There's a natural seeming musical immersive flow to the Lexicon that just works for me.
Not quite the transparency and detail but that doesn't seem to matter.
I'll not be moving the Topping and Emotiva on yet, I'll wait and see how they work with the Temple Audio mono amps. That may change things.

Do you use stock cables that come with your headphones Jerry or do you use something more exotic?

Do you use stock cables that come with your headphones Jerry or do you use something more exotic? I've always used stock cables. Even extension cables, which I use a fair amount, are the £1.99 jobbies from ebay!

So .... powered up the PSUs for about an hour. (Temple Audio suggest 20 minutes, but I got hijacked by a cat). Then turned the amps on. As is usual for me with new gear, started listening to music I hadn't heard before. Must say, sounding very good. After about an hour one channel goes silent, 30 seconds later that amp turns itself off with a click. And won't come on again. Phoned Temple Audio and spoke to John. Full of apologies. Suggested I swap PSUs between amps. Yup, 'dead' amp comes back on again, so it's one of the PSUs playing up. He'll send me a replacement asap. Going back to the old amp, pressing play where I'd paused it mid-music. Oh dear oh dear oh dear - what a come down! The Monos are, at first blush, superb. Damn - it'll be another few days at least till I get them up and running again.

On the plus side, you can't fault their customer service.

And this morning's moment of revelatory genius ... why not use one of my Chinese linear PSUs to take the place of the defunct Supercharger?! Wow, awesome. Why didn't I think of that yesterday? John @templeaudio is sending me a dual cable he quickly made to run both Monos from a single Supercharger*, but that should really go into Quarantine for 5 days. * No, you can't fault the customer service! So, the Monos up and running again. Albeit with less than ideal PS.

Well, Brian, I only heard them for an hour on a pukka pair of Superchargers. Having to slum it atm with a half Chinese PSU hybrid setup. But --- err, yeah. Hugely impressed before the PSU went pop. I've a horrible feeling that a further constraint may be put on my box swapping antics. Someone I've been in contact with on the Wam was happy to spend £20k+ on amps, and after comparisons at home with several of those he went with the Temple Monos & Superchargers. Damn! Listening now to familiar albums and it's kind of Wow, even with the PSU mixup. Everything's 'cleaner' somehow, more of a piece, the dynamics have a natural ease and flow I've not had before. 3D, whoosh, the imaging is great. Everything's more vivid, more presence. Seems like I'm hearing a lot further into the recordings. Anyway, initial impressions. Enjoying them a lot. I'll probably swap them out for the next great amp in a month or so.

Sounds like these are keepers Jerry I wonder if removing the Chinese PSU will improve the SQ . I may be able to afford the Stealth amp LOL Glad you like them mate
