Dam it , I said ostentatious show of wealth , if i do wear suits made by Boss. Reiss and Aquascutum , and I aint admitting I do , you wouldn't know it . I am not against quality , but i wont wear visible labels Cheap suits are a waste of money . Absolutely - have never bought a cheap suit in my life. Love my Aquascutum suits - not cheap even in the sales I bought them in but value for money, yes in my opinion. Won't be out of fashion in a year unlike most others. Now if only I could fit into the Issey Miyake suit I got married in. Was worn once and once only!

Good watches are an investment, and a protection against inflation, especially if bought pre-owned. They can be if you buy wisely but some can cost an awful lot of money to service ...

The only watch that I would love to own but probably never will is a George Daniels creation.

It could of course be a coincidence that you own one and proves nothing en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casio_F-91W#Claimed_use_in_terrorism

I'm with you - don't see the point when you need an iphone AS WELL. If it was a standalone device fair enough, but still not for me.

Why?

Because I can keep track of appointments with a single glance.
Because I can check the state of the tide and hence river depth at my second favourite pub.
Because I can easily check my eBay sales.
And much more. If people don't get it, then don't get it. Others do get it and will get it.
I'm not in the market to persuade anyone, each to their own..........
Other times I'll wear the Nixon or the Longines Dave

Well I ended up selling my Omega Aqua Terra automatic and have bought this retro Casio as a long-term replacement. I love it ... At new prices, the Omega is 400 times more expensive, but I prefer the Casio by a country mile ... 1. I don't have to concern myself with how much 'wrist action' the Casio gets to maintain accurate and consistent timekeeping. The Omega is a bit like a dog that you have to take for a walk a couple of times a day to keep it exercised! 2. It is much more comfortable on my wrist - the Omega was just too heavy for me and the bracelet was either too tight or too lose and I was forever changing the links 3. The Casio won't cost upwards of £350 to get it serviced every 5 years 4. Battery life is around 7 years Happy days ... Moi aussi. It meets my needs

@davec - fair enough. I wasn't having a go,I was genuinely interested. I've got my touch and ipad so just can't justify it or need it. Interesting bit of kit.

I wonder what the battery life will be like on the Apple watch, the Pebble lasts a week, but mono screen and no GPS, Android watches barely last a day...

But not everyone will get it..............
