Since losenotaminute and chris are both watch fans, I thought I'd kick this thread off.
My own beauty is a Longines Conquest Ti VHP, bought for me by my late wife as a birthday present in 1991 and priceless in a very personal way.

Very nice, Martin. I like watches, though I only own the one at the moment, but I'm pretty happy with it: A Citizen 'Stiletto'. I went for this because a) it's black, and b) it's slim. A chunkier face is not well suited to me, as I'm pretty clumsy and would end up scraping it against walls and what not.

Well I ended up selling my Omega Aqua Terra automatic and have bought this retro Casio as a long-term replacement. I love it ... At new prices, the Omega is 400 times more expensive, but I prefer the Casio by a country mile ... 1. I don't have to concern myself with how much 'wrist action' the Casio gets to maintain accurate and consistent timekeeping. The Omega is a bit like a dog that you have to take for a walk a couple of times a day to keep it exercised! 2. It is much more comfortable on my wrist - the Omega was just too heavy for me and the bracelet was either too tight or too lose and I was forever changing the links 3. The Casio won't cost upwards of £350 to get it serviced every 5 years 4. Battery life is around 7 years Happy days ...

As a child of 80s/90s, I have an abiding affection for the F-91W; I believe I had one around 92 or 93, though memory is hazy of course. I should pick up a new one; they're black after-all!
In the mid 90s I had a knock-off Rolex something-or-other, that my Dad picked up for me in Asia, which - like your Omega - was also kinetic. I didn't get along with this very well either - perhaps I didn't move around enough! A nice feature of the citizen is that it's solar powered (the face is a solar panel) and it hasn't stopped yet.

I have just one watch that still works. All the 'modern' quartz this and digital that bits have died a death of one kind or another.
My watch is a Timex, bought for my 18th birthday. So its 49 years young, has two hands to tell me the time and a second hand that goes round rather more quickly. It probably cost about £5 at most, probably a lot less.
For me, any watch does does other than tell the time is just jewelry and I don't do that sort of stuff. I appreciate lots do though and like anything else, if something is designed well it can be attractive just for that. I'd have old Quad stuff on the shelf just to look at.
Most of the time, I don't wear the one I have and find it irritates my wrist. I'm pleased to say, I rarely have to worry about time these days.

Here's mine, a 1967 Omega Constellation with a "super flat" automatic movement. Recently back from a full service. I love its timeless elegance and simplicity, that it keeps awesome time being a certified chronometer, and can see watch fashions moving away from the huge "nuclear bunker" massive design back here in the future.

I'm surprised no-one has pitched up yet with a Russian military watch. They have an attraction all of their own.

An eBay purchase, lesser known Swiss make, if I remember it was £70 and is a genuine automatic: Certina3 by losenotaminute, on Flickr

There's some crackers here. That Constellation is lovely and I agree that styling seems to be swinging back that way. And nodrog - it was looking at a Quad amp in a shop window years ago that got me into valve amps. 25 years later I bought one!
I can't post pics just now(piss poor net out here) but I own a Tag WM1112 which ,like losenotaminutes,is priceless to me. I wear it to work and it gets a right hiding and just comes back for more. Needs a service and the bezel sorted out the now but that's not bad after 12 years. I also own a G Shock G1000,a non working CWC and another one I can't remember. Will look when I'm home.
My next one will probably be a Sinn 556i with the metal strap but whether I will be able to part with the cash I don't know. Well worth a look the Sinn range.
Any recommendations on where to get the Tag serviced?

Chris, if you drop into TZ-UK and do a search on TAG service you might find some suggestions. If not, I can ask on your behalf. I also have a G-shock (solar powered and radio controlled) which is a great watch for sports etc., great VFM. Lawrence Casio G-Shock AWG-101 by losenotaminute, on Flickr

Cheers,I will have a look. I bought my G Shock from EBay Argos - total bargain at £40. Well worth a rake about there for a bargain and hotukdeals usually has a couple of gs on offer.
I am no way affiliated to either, just saying.

My watch is a Rolex Oyster, given to me by my parents for my 21st birthday. It obviously has great sentimental value and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I have another watch used for dress occasions: a gold square-faced Bulova Accutron with a black crocodile skin strap. However I use it so infrequently, the battery always runs flat.

The battery in my Longines lasts 5 years, however it always has to be sent off to them as no jewellers can re-seal the back. So I'm without my watch for a couple of weeks every 5 years

So much nicer than modern Rolex.

I fancy an old school Casio like the "batteryless" one that used the capacitor and solar panel.

I do like a Rolex. Just spoke to a bloke out here with the new green bezel job. Not the anniversary model but the newer one which has over 50 improvements apparently. Lovely watch but not sold on the green.
