It's let down BADLY by having to bluetooth to yer phone though. If I was buying again I'd go for an ipad with cellular ability. 1 device to do everything.

My diary is on my iPhone, my aps are on the iPhone, I always carry my iPhone. If the Watch connected to the internet that would be a miracle!
As it is, it is just perfect and I bet they will sell 2 million in the first year, not many here though ?
Don't buy it, simples!

I'm the other way around: no way would I ever have a 3G tablet or laptop again, with yet another contract. My Windows Phone bluetooths internet sharing superbly with my Surface 2 - completely seamlessly - and that's how I like it: a single contract. Anyway, the phone is 4G and very fast.

Right - I don't follow this so bear with me;
DaveC - if yer phone does all that why get the watch? Don't see the point of a second device.
MartinT - So you carry 2 devices as well?
I'm not being a dick here but I'm back to my first point - as a standalone device great but the fact you have to hook it up to a device that does all that anyway makes no sense to me. I know I'm in a minority and I do understand folk wanting it.
I'd much prefer just a single device to do all the tasks I require.

Hi Martin, I'm a no contract guy now too. Everything is unlocked and I'm free ! Also looking for a USA SIM. I expect my iPhone to be the central conduit.

Chris: I carry one device (phone) everywhere, it can most things, including Bluetooth to the car; I carry two devices, phone & tablet, when I'm working, then I'm still really 'carrying' one only as the phone stays in my pocket.
DaveC: I'm SIM-only contract with 2GB/month data, I buy my own unlocked phones.

I wonder what the battery life will be like on the Apple watch, the Pebble lasts a week, but mono screen and no GPS, Android watches barely last a day... About a day, apparently, though this may improve before the launch.

Battery life will be usage dependent surely . This is why is suspect it will be duff . Using in a manner analogous to a a phone will mean 3 hours tops i suspect .

Yep DQ when I say 2-3 days what I mean is a full day of intensive use.

My objections are: - I have a very nice watch that I don't want to take off - One day's charge is far too short - Remembering to take it off and charge it all the time - I couldn't bring myself to buy an Apple product any more All of course!

I do wish the Prev 1 .... X Next navigation bar was at the bottom of the pages I have just read as well as the top.
Being a mindless, closed minded soul I was stimulated by this thread to explore something more than my Casio.
As I no longer have to pay NI I had £200 more extra cash this month and decided I would celebrate this milestone by buying a watch. Like my buddy Daniel I find the ostentatious watches distastefull. A simple minimal style suits me, it is the quality that interests me.
So I went for a Citizen eco drive plain face, date and DoW, simple case, leather strap. Analogue time telling is more chilled than digitals set time to the second. Bit like analogue sources and digital sources of music. It is day 2 now and I am already looking at a Tissot of simple plain elegance. I am lucky a local shopping centre has 5 or is it 6 jewellers with luxury brands to choose from. The Citizen is powered for ever which I love the idea of, whilst the Tissot is quartz and batteries. I may not like the Tissot in the flesh but tomorrrow should tell all.
I still avoid people who make long, verbose posts though, not just folks who talk loudly on mobile phones or when they have an audience in a bar or any public place. We are as one or two have wisely ponted out different.

I was having a nice quiet coffee in a Costa today. At least, it started out that way. Then an old lady sat on the table next to me and started the most excruciatingly loud conversation on a mobile phone I've heard for a long while. No amount of dirty looks would shut this woman up. Sigh.

I've owned many watches including fancy TAG/Omega/Breitling but by far the most accurate is the £90 Citizen eco solar powered watch which is my 'everyday' watch. I check the exact time once a month and it's rarely more than a second or two out and of course never needs batteries.
Currently also using a Tissot touch watch just for the fun of it (I did actually use the compass function for real last week though !)

And the award for thread resurrection goes to... I've just bought a nice little Rotary on eBay. It wasn't expensive, it wasn't something I'd previously wanted, but as I was looking at it I suddenly realised it had ticked all of the boxes I wasn't previously aware were void of tickage. I didn't "need" it, but I knew I'd regret not buying it. It's even got a leather strap, and ninety-nine times out of a hundred I'll go for a watch with a metal bracelet. It required a new battery, it's in immaculate condition, and I've got a new "every day" watch. I'm trying to decide whether it would look even better with a brown strap now.
