I'm trying to remember if Nelsons is a decent Shostakovich conductor?
I love the Gewandhausorchester sound, they are stunning.

He did a Shostakovich symphony cycle on DG that with a couple of exceptions was very well received. That was with the Boston Symphony however.
You'd really hope for a special performance on such an occasion!

Oh, gosh, I hadn't realised he was that old.
RIP Andrew Davis, I watched many a Prom of yours on TV or live.

While she's worrying over it, she's taking home £186k a year.

Still a lot of pressure to perform in different areas of the business, creative, administrative, financial etc

Still a lot of pressure to perform in different areas of the business, creative, administrative, financial etc Agreed, but for £186k I'd take a shitload of pressure, too. Only, I get that pressure now but not the pay.

Can't wait to see the legend that is Yuja Wang tonight!
Lots of Shosta and Chopin to enjoy at a sold out Festival Hall.

Tarmo Peltokovski.
The Wagner loving Finnish conductor looks set for a big future.
Let's hope he is allowed to develop without too much hype.
I might take a trip to Riga to check him out.

I'm rather excited to have finally secured tickets to see Das Rheingold at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich later this year! First visit to Munich too.

I don't know why, but I thought you weren't a fan of Wagner, Jules, but I'm happy to see I was wrong. Have a great time; and that only leaves Die Walküre, Siegfried, and Götterdämmerung to go after attending it.

Lol yes Paul ... My mother has asked me for so many years to join her for a Wagner opera. I finally relented after enjoying the Wagner Festival at the Royal Albert Hall recently so will go to Munich with an open mind. Am sure the music will be great with Vladimir Jurowski conducting ...
