So I'm having a coffee in the park whilst being entertained by a Suzuki violin class next to the cafe. You can see why this system can get very good results - learning to play together in time and in tune at a very young age. It sets very good foundations from what I can hear!

The BBC are giving a lot of coverage to young violinist Randall Goosby at present. I saw a report on him last night - turns out he studied with Perlman.

This is pretty cool. A new Fender Telecaster inspired by Stradivarius. Love the details in the finish.

Is it like ripped jeans where you pay more for the scratches?

Guitarists (and bassists) are split over aged/roadworn/relic-ed instruments. My opinion is that if I'm paying a lot of money for somethung I'd rather like it without chunks of paint missing and dents in it. I'm quite capable of "aging" my own instruments thank you very much. A genuine baged up and honestly battered guitar is said to have "mojo," it's had a life, and you can't buy mojo.
Others are of the completerly opposite opinion. Discussion of it is banned on the bass forum I belong to because feelings actually run very hot over it.

This guitar is rather different in its aims - it's trying to recreate the look and texture of a priceless violin, not a knackered / road-worn Tele. I think they've done a great job - can't be easy working in that amount of detail.

Carnegie Hall is starting a subscription streaming service via Apple TV - $7.99 per month in the US and in the UK it's £6.99 - an interesting currency conversion going on there ... www.carnegiehall.org/Carnegie-Hall-Plus
