She plays it quite percussively, a bit like Lupu's style. She doesn't glide across the keys quite like Argerich. I don't hear anything too idiomatic or offensive, the orchestral accompaniment is well played and the 24/96 hi-res recording is excellent. It wins my approval!

Yikes, ok I've not listened to that one so will give it a go.

I should have added - of course - that she plays the Rach 3 very well, not an easy Piano Concerto for anyone to master, I'm sure.

Her technical ability has never been in doubt, it's her musicality I have previously questioned.

You'll have to listen to it. It worked for me.

I confess I couldn't listen to much of it Martin, I find her phrasing just too heavy handed again. This is much more to my taste, I love the fluidity and delicacy to her playing.

Anyone going to see Carmen at the ROH this week might have to climb over ' 'dead bodies'. Not sure what I think about it. Any opinions?

Carmen would be the only opera that I would be prepared to go and see (I've been to a few and they have mostly been not for me).
Oh, you mean the extinction rebellion? I suppose that BP are the local target but there are so many worse polluters in the world, not to mention the alarming rate that Brazilian forests, for instance, are disappearing.

Ha - yes, it's the only opera I was prepared to see for the music but the tickets are so fiendishly expensive I gave it a miss. Would have liked to have seen the live relay though!

At the Barbican now you can have a drink made by robots! People were standing in front of this utterly entranced by it when I was there last.

Piano legend Radu Lupu is finally retiring.
We wish him a most happy retirement.
Well done Martin for getting to see him play recently.

I thought these might be his last performances. He looked frail but there was nothing wrong with his hands. A legend and I feel lucky to have seen him twice.

A quick 5-minute listen to the Ma Vlast suggests further listening is required.
Not a Joshua Bell fan, Jules?

But does he talk in a genuine "mockney" accent, like Nige did?
