Shows human stupidity and misguided resource deployment / lack empathy for others in real need. I'm referring to all who are living under oppression, hunger and persecution, so great that they take the desperate action to flee their unstable countries. Board unsafe boats and perish in the attempt. Where was the rescue mission and resources for them? The world idlely stood by and watched. A bunch of privalidged adventurers, more money than sense, on nothing more than a rubber neck mission! - that gets a huge sympathy vote, not to mention endless resources thrown at it - really?! 100% this. |

I heard Stockton Rush saying that he'd "like to be remembered as an innovator" and quoting general MacArthur saying "you're remembered for the rules you break" and then saying "well we've broken a few rules here".
It really has me wondering how much were the paying customers aware of the vessel's innovative design, the criticisms the safety of the vessel received and if they knew about the game controller and camping equipment used to operate the vessel.
And as things got bad was Stockton keeping all concerns from them until they died. This is such a mess.

Well said Steve, my thoughts exactly especially the privalidged adventurers comment. Whats really annoying now is all the fuss about the why's, how's and talk of attempts at recovery of the wreckage. Why? . . . . it's patently obvious what happened, it's done, there's no-one to save and a pointless hugely expensive mission to go any further with this I find baffling. |

Perhaps it could establish whether carbon fibre is an inappropriate material to construct a sub's pressure chamber from? If you've ever seen an F1 crash, there are pieces of sharp CF everywhere. It's a strong, light, material - until it isn't. There is no give in CF.

Whilst I agree with the concept, I think it was well known beforehand it wasn't a safe construction method and for me that's now proven without spending any more time, effort or expense establishing something so obvious. But that's me.
Better to regulate against it or if uber rich adventure travelers decide to go against such advice/regulations, leave them where they fall like Everest. I don't have a lot of time for wealth and arrogance taking priority over those who really should be helped.

My bike was deliberately chosen as *not* carbon fibre . The last model before Giant switched I believe
They seem to have sorted the problem with carbon fibre bike frames but I'm sticking with mine
I've seen the aftermath of crashes in pro bike racing and carbon still seems to break where you don't want it to

I just wish you all could listen to the Finnish president talking in his 2nd language (Swedish).
Completely candidly about his youth, early political days, and then in disarming honestly and detail, about the full scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.
How it impacted neighbouring countries, how to help Ukraine etc
Finland's and Sweden's NATO application.
Meeting Biden, his views and ideas - suggesting a joint phone call with Swedish president then and there..
What immediate support USA etc could/would give, come the worst.
Then onto the all hardening propaganda and disturbance Russia gives out.
It's fascinating.

Yes, very dry and a bit odd ball.
He recounted how after the WWII most finns were envious of Sweden's affluence and lot in life.
He now presides over the country voted happiest country of all, 6 years running.
He professed to not know why/how Finland was in that position 🙂
None of our self interested, back stabbing politicians, in power now, would hold a candle to him.
You can just tell..
