Large box (SilentPoint): Left FedEx origin facility Tsuen Wan, HK Small box (Aucharm): Departed from regional distribution center Dongguan, China The large one left CHEK LAP KOK, HK, on 24 July so goodness knows where it is now. Fedex predicted it would be delivered yesterday. There is no new forecast delivery date. Perhaps it was sent by steamer in error? The small one departed China on 26 July and is expected to arrive early August. Perhaps it's on the same steamer? Oh well, it'll be fun when they arrive.

It should arrive this week. My experience apart from the communication was positive.

Carrying on with my thought processes, while waiting for the SilentPoint and Aucharm boxes to arrive, I'm going to try grounding at the power amp speaker terminals. As with other components, there could be noise on the amp's ground plane. Furthermore, the long 'negative' speaker cable could act as an aerial and bring more noise back into the ground plane. Since the amp uses negative feedback which references to ground, any noise here could be affecting the amp's ultimate performance capability. I've ordered two of these Quartz Acoustics grounding boxes. They, together with the other two and my two SGS boxes, will allow me to try out various configurations.

The smaller Aucharm has arrived. As usual for Chinese vendors, it was packed to withstand a small nuclear attack.
Although this one is designated for by-the-system grounding, I'm using it temporarily by the consumer unit to ground the earth bonded to neutral using an SGS cable. It's been in place for about three hours and I can start to hear a further clarifying of fine detail, ambience and musical flow. This is the pattern with these things and I'll give it a full 24 hours before giving my thoughts.

New system diagram, including the not-yet-arrived SilentPoint grounding box, but not yet including the two Quartz Acoustic grounding boxes for the power amp outputs. It's getting to the point where I refer to my diagram in order to remember exactly what configuration I'm using!

Tried to make it simplicato by using better colour coding.

What? Ok, following the signal... Ethernet from the router (blue cable) comes into the EtherREGEN front-left; ethernet from ER (thick black cable) goes into ultraRendu front-centre; USB from ultraRendu (black cable) goes to Mutec top-right; AES from Mutec (unseen blue cable) goes to LKS DAC front-right.

My thoughts on the Aucharm grounding box connected to mains earth near the consumer unit. The first thing to say is that the effect is only perhaps 50% that of changing the grounding cable to the Mutec that I did a few days ago.
What I hear is a furthering of impact and vividness. Also some more detail in transient edges such as drum strikes, making it sound truer to the instrument. Low level detail is also improved, with smoother musical flow. I don't hear a lot of difference in ambience which is already well developed in my system now. Extremely complex music, such as Shpongle and Jon Hopkins, flow better and are easier on the ear despite greater detail.
That's about it after 24 hours of running. I look forward to the arrival of the SilentPoint to make a direct comparison in the same position with the same cable.

Mains earth ! Reminds me know of when I had the previously ignored earth spike improved here Years later when electrical changes were made during the refurb It's Earthing Jim but not as we know it

The best analogy is to think of mains earth grounding boxes as sponges, sucking away (absorbing) very high frequency noise from earth before it gets to the system's ground plane.
That leaves component generated noise, which is dealt with by their own grounding boxes connected directly to their ground plane.

I'm amazed that I can hear a small change I made to the wiring point for the Aucharm grounding box to mains earth. I moved it from the incoming ground (just after bonding to neutral) to the small consumer unit providing the dedicated 60A radial to the music room next door. Just a bit further towards the system, effectively. It sounds better, bringing more performance from the Aucharm. I'd been mulling over it during the day and went straight to the drill when I got home, moving the brackets. Quite pleasing while I await the arrival of the monster Silent Point.

How on 'earth' could that make a difference to a wooden box full of inert bits and pieces?
