Day 6 with some 144 hours on the Sig Rendu Deluxe so far, much of it with Tara Labs burn-in. The energy levels have risen, together with more vibrancy and excitement. I think 'energy' is the best way of describing what I am hearing as the normal descriptive phrases don't fit how the SRDL is settling into its new level of performance. Just one track as an example: Mavis Staples - Eyes on the Prize. This standard 16/44 track can sound quite flat on an ordinary system and, as my system has improved, has sounded very good towards the end of the song. Now - bang - it's vivid and exciting from the start and just gets better. Wonderful. open.qobuz.com/track/77650104

A quick update on day 7 (168 hours). I'm starting to hear that step-change that comes towards the end of burn-in where a new level of performance is revealed. As well as a very clean, transparent but still musical presentation, the sheer dynamics are now reaching above anything I have previously experienced. Also the space in the music is improved, helping to bring insight into what's going on - less busy sounding, if you like. Harshness is well down, the lowest since I moved from Spotify to Qobuz some four years ago, making almost all music sound enjoyable. The bass remains incredibly tight, textured and tuneful.
Would that all upgrades could bring this level of improvement for £1,300. I really wasn't expecting this much so it's all bonus for me.

Day 10 with some 240 hours on the SRDL. Smaller changes now, the performance is quite relaxed with a wonderful large soundstage. Dynamic transients have real clout, and deep bass is impressive but never overwhelming. The system can punch and scale quite dramatically when demanded.
Most importantly (for me) the all-important voice range is gorgeous, communicative and highly resolving, really showing off the Usher's inverse beryllium dome midrange driver.
I have never been so happy listening to all my old favourites and some new material. Last.fm says I've listened to 2,500 different artists so I'm widening my range all the time.

This hi-fi lark just kills me sometimes. I've just become used to the performance level of the Rendu Deluxe, uGreen ethernet cables and those two awesome JS-2 power supplies.
Then I go and make some pretty simple adjustments to the settings in my router, that I could have done a long time ago if I had thought for one second that they would make a difference.
They made a difference. A big difference.

This really is an excellent tool that I need to get properly to grips with. An initial play reveals: The largest magnetic field comes from my power amp. No surprise there with its huge toroidal transformer. The largest electric field comes from my router aerials. No surprise there as it is busy sending/receiving 4G+ and wi-fi signals.

lt's a great guide Martin, especially the magnetic field meter, as it's a really overlooked area, and with the right sheilding, can bring big gains.

All is bloody superb here. I don't know if nicholas and MikeMusic agree with me, but it's becoming increasingly difficult to describe what I hear from the upgraded Signature Rendu Deluxe. Perhaps the best way is to impart the sense that all music gets a full dose of excitement while the different strands are so very clear to hear. Not analytical, it's more homogeneous than that. See, I can't do it justice and don't want to sound hyperbolic. One thing that still astounds me: this is streaming. From the Internet. It's incredible. It's also been good to return to full listening sessions after a period of dealing with my mother and intense work pressure. John is paying a visit on Saturday and he has good ears, so I shall leave it to him to describe, warts and all.

Martin, you and I are in complete agreement with your assessment of improvements largely brought about with the Signature Rendu Deluxe. Worthy of note is the rock solid stability that the SRD delivers... have not experience one blip or dropout since the unit arrived. I believe that Sonore said there were some software modifications to V2.9 so they might be responsible. Sound quality is impossible to convey without actually hearing it. Looking forward to John's impressions...

Even the occasional stutter at the start of a track has been eliminated since I setup my router with QoS, proving that it was never the Rendu at fault anyway. It's a truly superb, reliable and dependable high performance streamer, worth every penny of its price.

I can only judge the Rendu upgrade on the first comparison, which was very good, from new and cold So many other tweaks have taken the sound even better as I populate the streaming No need for patience

I met up with Martin and heard his system. All those changes have made a nice difference. It has a similar openness to Tony S system I heard today which is high praise indeed. I am not going to describe to much what I heard, but will concentrate on more on the emotions. My first thought is that Martin system has become his sanctuary, it a place to lose yourself in the music and forget that you are listening to a system. It engages you fully and can transport you to a different dimension. Gone is the harshness I used to hear, with the odd torture track I would subject Martin too. For instance Those that ride with Giants track the deepness, last time the harshness got in the way of all the information, of the whales singing, the deep bass and the ocean sounds. Not anymore. Its a track that will trip up most systems but is no longer doing that to Martin's. Waking the Witch had so much more detail retrieval, I still feel perhaps a bit more ringing with the church bells to come, but everything else is in being played in it's full glory. Whatever we threw at, choral music, intense classical music or even The Encounter by Evergrey it handled it all well. Looking back its how well the mids now sound, but how it all glues together. A vast soundstage, yet coherent sound. Well done Martin I could have stayed all night.

Good stuff. Great how this hobby can evolve so and be a journey as well as provide solace and sanctuary.
I played Waking The Witch the other evening. Bells were very clear to me. Can't remember them being so obvious.
